The Acolyte is a show that takes place during the High Republic Era of Star Wars, which is set about one hundred years before the events ofStar Wars: The Phantom Menace. This would indicate that while most of the Jedi Council that we know and despise might not be part of the show, fans could expect a certain Grandmaster of the Jedi Order to make an appearance in the show.
However, as likely as an appearance could have been, The creators ofThe Acolytehave made it clear that Jedi Grandmaster Yoda will not be making an appearance in the show, as director Leslye Headland and actress Amandla Stenberg confirmed. Even though Yoda would be a major figure for the Jedi Order during the time, the figure would be largely absent from something likeThe Acolyte, which, if trailers are to be believed, will present a big shift in the status quo for Force users.

Speaking withComicbook.com, director Leslye Headland was direct about why Yoda will not be making an appearance in the show. When asked if Yoda or any other character from the familiar Star Wars canon is going to show up, she said:
Can you imagine if they were like ‘No problem, you can use Yoda. It’s not a bid deal, go for it.’ No, there is not. We are pulling characters from The High Republic, and the characters from EU, and that’s it.
Yoda is an integral character in the Star Wars universe and would have the potential to steal the spotlight away from the characters the High Republic Era is trying to work with. Headland’s straightforward answer suggests that Yoda is indeed not going to be part of the series, and was perhaps once considered for the series, but never made it into the final product thanks to Disney not green-lighting the character’s appearance in the show.

The High Republic is going to pull from the Extended Universe, an entire part of the Star Wars canon that was made non-canon as Disney bought the IP out, rebranding it as Legends. There were several aspects of the Legends Timeline that not only delighted fans but were their gateway into the Star Wars IP. However, despite the show pulling from the Extended Universe to populate its story,The Acolytehas already been shunned by Star Wars fans, who are not at all excited about the show.

The Acolytewill follow the High Republic, a part of the Star Wars universe that has not yet been explored in the live-action setting. Despite the first foray into the much beloved time in the Star Wars Universe, fans could not be less excited about the project, given how the first look seems to align more with Disney’s recent failures on the big screen, rather than the success that it has seen with the Filoni-verse.
