LEGO Horizon Adventureshas been a pretty interesting reveal at the Summer Game Fest last week. The game features the perfect blend of the creativity and charm of LEGO with the vast and immersive world of theHorizonseries.

LEGO Horizon Adventures will be a loose retelling of Horizon Zero Dawn.

However, despite the initial hype, there seems to be a significant flaw that fans can’t overlook. The game is falling drastically short of its predecessors in one crucial area – its game length.

Shorter Playtime Sparks Disappointment for Lego Horizon Adventures

When fans heard aboutLEGO Horizon Adventures, they expected a game that would offer the same kind of expansive and engaging experience as the originalHorizongames. BothHorizon Zero DawnandHorizon Forbidden Westprovided players with countless hours of exploration, storytelling, and adventure.

7-8 hour, full price LEGO game? Yeah the fans are gonna eat this up. 😒

Zero Dawnwas around 40 hours long, whileForbidden Westwas around 60 hours long for the campaign and all of the relevant site content. In contrast,LEGO Horizon Adventureshas a playtime of only 7-8 hours, which is a major letdown for many.

Could the game also include elements from Horizon Forbidden West?

The developers have said that the game is highly replayable, but that still might not be enough of a justification for a lot ofplayers who were looking forwardto this game. They argue that the ability to revisit levels, discover new secrets, and complete additional challenges adds to the game’s overall value.

While replayability is a great feature, it doesn’t fully address the core issue of the game’s short main storyline. Replayability is a familiar concept in LEGO games, where players often return to unlock new characters or discover hidden collectibles.

However, this feature is typically an addition to a substantial main campaign, not a replacement for it. In the case ofLEGO Horizon Adventures, relying heavily on replayability feels like a cheap solution for the lack of more content.

Players who were expecting a similar level of depth and content in the LEGO version are understandably upset. The charm and replayability of LEGO games can’t completely compensate for the stark difference in game length.
