If you have a large number of games installed on your Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S, you may want to check your console immediately if you plan to play a game soon.
Multiple gamers have reported an issue wherein all their games, even old ones from years ago, are getting updated.

No retirement party for Phil yet.
The issue is that there shouldn’t be any, since no new patches have been officially released.
Xbox Update Bug Hits Users
One poster on theXbox subredditasked why everything in their game catalog needed an update, with some members chiming in that they’ve experienced the same thing.
It’s not just games that’re getting updated; some DLCs are also receiving notifications that they’re being updated. As you can see, this is a problem for those who own a ton of games on their console.

To date, Microsoft has not issued any acknowledgment or info on why this is happening. One redditor said that this is Microsoft sending out validation license checks for some installed games, though that’s not official.
Oddly enough, some gamers have not received any updates at all, and there is no known criteria on which games are getting updated.

Most Popular Xbox Exclusive Of 2024 Headed To PS5 Later This Year
Another former Xbox-exclusive is getting released on PS5 later this year, joining Gears of War, Forza Horizon 5, and more.
The updates are even hitting games that are a decade old! What’s even more concerning is, some users are reporting that even once the updates are done, they are then prompted to reinstall the game, with some bugging out and just updating and installing to no end.

Of course, if you don’t have a ton of games installed, this shouldn’t be a problem. I reckon that if you want to avoid this issue, you can easily delete some of the old games you don’t plan on playing anytime soon. You can redownload these games from your library if needed, of course.
