Like most Soulslikes, you’ll reach a point inWuchang: Fallen Featherswhere you have some player agency and actual choice in which order you should tackle the main boss fights.

If you’re like me, you’ll think this sense of freedom is cool, but it could also slightly overwhelm you. I mean, this is a pretty challenging game, so how do you know the order you’re fighting bosses isactuallythe best choice for where you’re currently at in the game?

hardest final bosses of all time

12 Hardest Final Bosses of All Time

Notoriously hellish and oh-so annoying.

Worry no longer. Below, I’ve listed out every main boss inWuchang: Fallen Feathers, who you should fight first, and explanations for why I’ve chosen to veer off the expected path at times.

Master Raider - Man-Eating Dhutanga

Ready your weapon of choice (though it should be alongsword, let’s be honest), and let’s get to hunting.

As you’d expect, some of the bosses below will be spoilers. If you’re using this guide as you work through the game, you may not want to skip ahead beyond the boss you’re coming up to next.

feathered priest wuchang

There aretechnicallymore enemies in the game with boss health bars, but they’re so easy and mandatory on the critical path at certain points in the game that I really do not think they’re worth mentioning at all. I’ve also omitted a small handful of NPC fights, because they’re optional and quest-dependent.

1Master Raider - Man-Eating Dhutanga

Preparing For What’s To Come

TheMan-Eating Dhutangais located just beyond the Lightzen Temple Shrine in Worship’s Rise, the introductory area of the game. He’s a critical path boss and can’t be skipped, so you’ll have no choice but to make this guy your first.

Defeating this foe will grant you the Lightzen Temple key, which is mandatory to deliver you to Shu Sanctum, the next sort of home-base-type hub that’s needed to continue progressing the story.

Gluttonous Monstrosity - Lu Hongliu

2Feathered Priest - Lu Bingchang

Your First Summon Fight

Technically, you can do either of the next two bosses first, since this is where Wuchang starts to give you some alternate paths to follow. Still, I’d recommendFeathered Priestnext. Once you arrive at Shu Sanctum in Worship’s Rise, you’ll find him locked away in a room on the top floor.

Use the bone whistle to summon help for this first to gain an NPC ally, which makes this otherwise semi-difficult early-game fight much more manageable.

Blightweaver - Great Centipede

Defeating him will allow you to open up the basement of Shu Sanctum for your next critical path forward, but let’s not head that way just yet.

3Gluttonous Monstrosity - Lu Hongliu

Intro To Beast Fights

Before continuing on with the main story, it’s time to take down your first fully-optional boss fight. TheGluttonous Monstrosityis located near Shu Sanctum in the village directly behind it and up the mountain.

From Shu Sanctum, take the fallen tree shortcut from the second story. If you’ve unlocked it, immediately head left, then take a sharp right up a steep incline to find a giant doorway blocking your path. Beyond this door is the boss arena.

This boss is your first true example of the classic beast-type fight you know (and hopefully love) from other similar Soulslike titles. It’s not a pushover, but you may find it easier than Feathered Priest regardless, even without the ability to summon an NPC for this one.

4Blightweaver - Great Centipede

The One With A Gimmick

Head into the basement of Shu Sanctum next and work your way to the bottom of the mercury workshop. After getting all the way down to the base of this corruption-filled area of the game, you’ll find a Shrine at the Bandit Cave.

10 Soulslikes With The Most Viable Build Options

Body building.

Just beyond this shrine isBlightweaver, another mandatory boss that will be your only fighting option at this point in the game. While this is the most imposing baddy you’ve seen so far, the fight is winnable once you learn the gimmick.

Bait it to attack the giant pillars in the arena. Each hit on a pillar will stun the centipede, allowing you to whittle its health down. This is made even easier if you have a fire-imbuing temperance on your weapon. Winning this fight opens your next path forward.

5Reborn Treant - Soulwood

This is the second to last boss fight before Wuchang really opens up your options.Soulwoodis found at the end of the Doomwillow Beach area of the game.

Unfortunately, this is the first long run-back of the game, so if you die to Soulwood or at any other point during your journey through Doomwillow Beach, you’ll have to start the whole section over. It’s luckily a pretty straight line, but use extra caution.

If you have decent magic skills and Vorpal Blade, hug the left side of the arena and pummel Soulwood with your spell over and over. Its massive AOE fire attack can’t hit you there, which makes this boss easy work and opens your next progression path.

The Doomwillow Beach Shrine is your first example of a Mimic in the game. This shrine will transform and attack you when you try to interact with it, unless you strike first. Be warned.

6Commander Honglan

The First Skill-Check

After progressing through all of Tang Emperor’s Palace, you’ll meet your first genuine challenge in the game,Commander Honglan. You’ll need to find a Buddha statue at the end of the area just beyond the Palace Hill Shrine, then place it in the contraption just up the hill immediately to your right. This drains the palace’s water, which is where Honglan awaits you.

The game will clue you in to parrying via a tutorial pop-up at this point, which you shouldn’t ignore. For this fight, you’ll want to bring a weapon with a block/parry/counter ability, or else you’re in for a world of hurt. I recommend the longsword with the counter ability unlocked. Respec if you need to at this point.

Honglan will take you multiple tries, but you have no choice but to memorize her attack patterns and parry her to victory. After doing so, you’ll be unconscious and reawaken back at the Revenant Temple.

7South General - Liu Wenxiu

Going Out Of Order

Okay, here’s where we really have some pathing options. In actuality, there are currently four bosses you may now access.South Generalin Zhenwu Temple is my first suggestion. The catch is that Zhenwu Temple is also the most difficult area available to you at this point, but I have my reasons for this.

Bosses at this point in the game are likely to all stonewall you to a certain extent. They’rebeatable, but difficult. In Zhenwu Temple, closest to the Zhenwu Antechamber Shrine is a spell called Ethereal Form, which is a near-game-busting defensive/evasive spell that you’ll want to use for every boss fight moving forward.

I won’t lie, navigating Zhenwu Temple this early in the game will be a challenge, but it’s a grind worth conquering in order to grab this spell. I also truly believe that South General is the easiest available boss at this point, so you might as well knock him out after you grab the Ethereal Form spell.

There’s a critical path forward after this fight, but we’ll circle back to that after we clear out some other bosses we’ve left behind.

8General Of The North - Ai Nengqi

Optional, But Worth It

Let’s go back to Cloudspire, which is likely where you’d naturally end up if you played the game without a guide to this point and didn’t go out of your way to hit Zhenwu Temple first.General of the Northis located just below the Rebel Camp Shrine.

Be prepared, as there’s no intro cutscene for this fight. As soon as you walk through his doorway, it’s game on.

This is an optional fight as well, but I think it’s a really fun one, particularly once you’ve gained Ethereal Form from Zhenwu Temple. Also, he sounds like the Cookie Monster, which makes him much less threatening once you realize this.

9Ming General - Liu Cheng’en

The Gateway To Snowfall Palace

To keep progressing the story, you’ll need to defeatMing General, who stands guard within the entrance to Snowfall Palace once you’ve lowered the castle gates. Beating General of the North will force the gates to lower, but so will lighting the beacons at the top of the towers around Cloudspire Outskirts. Your choice.

However you get inside the gate, you’ll need to take down Ming General to keep moving forward. Parries are a good option here, but the easiest method is baiting his jump attacks, circling behind, charging a heavy attack into his backside, backstabbing, and pummeling until he stands back up.

Once you’re victorious, you’ll be gifted with a shrine in his arena right next to your next story location. Let’s take a couple more pit stops, however.

10Bo Sorcerer

A Little Help From Your Friend

I believeBo Socereristechnicallyoptional, but she helps progress the White-Robed Elder’s NPC quest, which is one you don’t want to miss. Additionally, this is simply a great fight located at the top of the Avian Marsh, technically also in the Mt. Zhenwu region, though it feels drastically different from Zhenwu Temple.

You can fight Bo Sorcerer immediately after Commander Honglan if you’d like, but this is the toughest of the four boss battles that opened up for you once Honglan was subdued. As such, save it for last.

This is another one you can summon for, assuming you’ve followed the White Robed-Elder’s quest to this point. He can prove extremely useful in this one, so summon him if you’re struggling.
