Madness is a unique mechanic inWuchang: Fallen Feathers. It’s inflicted upon the player after dying, and causes them to deal more damage but also take more damage from the game’s enemies.
If you continue to die without removing Madness, then the Madness buildup will increase. You don’t want this to happen as it can result in you taking way too much damage, making the game much more challenging.

If you want punishing gameplay, but don’t want to pay for a game outright, these are great options for Playstation fans.
Luckily, Madness can be removed and is not a permanent debuff. This guide explainseverything there is to know about removing Madness in Wuchang: Fallen Feathersand also what this debuff entails for your protagonist.

Madness Explained
Madness is a debuff in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers that affects the amount of damage you inflict and receive. The more Madness your character has, the more damage she will do. However, she will also take more damage.
Having high Madness also results in receiving more Red Mercury Essence from enemies. This makes it great for farming and leveling up quickly.

The main way to acquire Madness isthrough dying, where each death increases the debuff your character has. While the benefit of increased damage may sound enticing, taking more damage in a brutal game such as Wuchang is super risky, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
Players can also raise their Madness by killing humanoid enemies.
However, there are some skills that use Madness. In other words, if you’re going for a Madness build, then it may be smart to increase it as much as possible.
How To Remove Madness
There are three ways to remove Madness in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. First, players canoffer Divine Gifts to the statue on the second floor of Shu Sanctum.
There’s no definite way to find these items, but they are sometimes dropped by demonsand elite enemies.Other unique artifacts can be offered to the statue to remove madness, such as the Trinity Bell.

Another way to remove Madness in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is bydefeating the Demons that invade your world. These Demons spawn when your Madness build-up reaches its max.

There are alsoscripted sequences with Demonsthat don’t correlate with your Madness level. They are similar to the Demons that invade when you have high Madness, but occur in specific locations and are a bit more challenging. These are called “Inner Demons” and it’s required to beat them for the Quelling Madness trophy.
These scripted sequences begin when"Demon Manifested"appears across the screen. When this happens, look out for a character with a white robe and round hat on, as they will be charging toward you ready to fight.
Once you defeat a Demon, the words"Madness Retreats"will appear on your screen. This will remove all Madness buildup from your body, bringing the damage inflicted and damage received back to its original state.
Lastly, players can reduce their Madness bykilling Feathered beings. These enemies are non human and have feathers on their bodies.
How To Check Madness
While the game explains what Madness does in Wuchang Fallen Feathers, it doesn’t explain how to check the amount of Madness your character currently has. Fortunately, it’s actually possible to check.
To check the amount of Madness in your body,go to the pause screen and navigate to the Character tab. On this page, you’ll find a silhouette of your character and the amount of Madness she holds. The more red the character is, the more Madness is inflicted.

All the difficulty, less of the time commitment
At the bottom of the page, you will see the words"Inner Demon" and a number out of 100(or more later in the game).
The first number is the amount of Madness in your body and the second number is when Madness reaches its limit. Once Madness reaches its limit, the Demon will invade your world soon.
How To Defeat Demons
The Demons are challenging enemies that will invade your world if your Madness gets too high. They are usually equipped with a long axe and gun, making them difficult at both close and long range. Demons can alsocome equipped with a Katana.
I recommendplaying aggressively against the Demonsand closing the distance between the two of you. Getting too far away from the Demon will have it shooting rockets at you, which deal an immense amount of damage.
If you die to a demon, you can usually find it again at the same spot.
When you’re up close to the Demon, all you have to do is worry about its sword attacks. These are pretty straightforward to read and can be easily dodged with the right timing. Immediately after a perfect dodge is the best time to counter with a charge attack or spell.
There are tons of spells that work wonder against Demons, but I have had the best luck byusing Fire Spells. For example, Echo of Dhutanga is very effective against Demons as it not only deals a ton of damage but also knocks them to the ground.
