It’s been almost four years since the release of the Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5 consoles. Sony has absolutely dominated Microsoft this generation by huge margins. Reports suggest that PlayStation 5 is continuing to outsell Xbox consoles by a 3:1 ratio.

All of this might seem like a huge setback for Microsoft, but it still has another exclusive title up its sleeve that might change everything, and that’sSouth of Midnight. Its latest gameplay footage gives us a look at another incredible boss players can challenge in the game, and it’s clear that this action-adventure title will be a top challenger for Game of the Year 2025.

2025 Might See a Dip in Console Exclusivity as Multiple PlayStation Exclusives Are Rumored to Release on Xbox
In the last couple of months, both Microsoft and Compulsion Games haveopened up about the game’s developmentand given us a look at its setting, story characters, gameplay mechanics, and more. According tothe developers, this massive alligator was once a small beast that was raised by Farmer Swopes, an evil man who abused and starved his animals for his own gain. However, his mistreatment led to his ultimate demise as when the alligator escaped, he took all measures to ensure it would never be hungry again. Gamers can’t get enough of this boss and hope to challenge it themselves soon.
This game start to looking so good. Can’t wait

Holy crap! This looks crazy!
This game looks amazing and it’s my most anticipated Microsoft game.
This game is my biggest expectation for 2025. I’m Brazilian, but I’ve heard and read a lot about the history of the southern US, and my favorite X-Men character from the same region, Gambit. I can’t wait to play this great game.

Looks fucking incredible, would buy it day 1 on PS5! 🔥
It’s great to see that Xbox has finally landed itself a game that players can’t wait to hit the shelves. It might turn the tide in favor of Microsoft and allow its console to finally regain dominance against its rivals.

A major Xbox game got pushed to 2026
Xbox‘s status for 2025 began to look quite impressive, with multiple reveals left and right at the Summer Game Fest showcase in June. We got release windows for multiple games such as PlayGround Games’Fablereboot, Bethesda’sDoom: The Dark Ages, and Compulsion Games’South of Midnight.
What was surprising is that Obsidian Entertainment’sThe Outer Worlds 2, which was first revealed back in 2021, has recently been given a 2025 release period when it dropped a trailer at The Game Awards 2024.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s Reception Is Something That Xbox Badly Needed After Starfield Failure
Recently, reliable industry insider Jeff Grubb stated that one of Xbox’s 2025 lineup titles has been pushed back to 2026. While he doesn’t state which title, he went on to state that it could end up being The Initiative’sPerfect Darkreboot. This game appeared at the June showcase with a full gameplay reveal as well.
However, the title didn’t have any particular release window, and considering its development struggles in the last couple of years, it seems like the game won’t hit the shelves before 2026 or 2027.
The so-called‘big game’could be other titles as well. However, the fact that we’ve seen extensive coverage on the rest of the games in recent months makes it unlikely that they will be delayed. At the end of the day, it’s just a rumor, so we’ll have to wait till 2025 to see how things turn out for Xbox.
