The Brothers Sunseason 2 is not happening
After the eight-episode first season ofThe Brothers Sunconcluded, Netflix pulled their plug off the project. The show performed well on the platform’s charts after it premiered on July 27, 2025.
Despite being headlined by the Oscar-winning actressMichelle Yeoh, the series got snubbed because of the viewership rating over the long term. Netflix has always been very particular about which series to renew and we know its solely based on their viewership numbers.

What could have been the plot ofThe Brothers Sunseason 2?
The first season of the dark comedy action series revolves around the young Charles Sun (Justin Chien), son of a Taiwanese gangster who has made his life as a dangerous killer. However, after his father’s mysterious death, Charles is sent to L.A to protect his mother (played by Michelle Yeoh) and younger brother, Bruce (Sam Li) who doesn’t know anything about their family’s illegal business.
When the first season ended, it was clear that the story has more to tell. If season 2 was to happen, the plot could have explored Mama Sun’s side of the story centering her trip to Taiwan assuming her position as the head of the family that opened a lot of conflicts among the gang. On the other hand, Yuan’s arrival in L.A could have created a lot of problems by either removing Big Sun as a threat or getting on the way of Mama Sun.
