Before being the successful actor that he is, John Cena was a beloved part of the world of WWE. Having existed within the federation for years, he became integral to the very foundations of the sport, being an important figure to date. While he has become quite serious about his acting career and pursues it full-time, he still manages to make time for his wrestling career every now and then.

Most recently, Cena made an appearance at the MITB, where he announced his retirement from wrestling. While the news has deeply upset many fans, there was a segment that managed to uplift their spirit.

It would seem that even though Cena is moving on to other pursuits, he has not forgotten where he comes from.

John Cena Has the Best Running Gag

WhenJohn Cenawas in his prime as a wrestler, he had a very famous phrase;‘You can’t see me’. Moving his hands in front of his face, he would let his opponents know that he was too fast for them to see him, let alone beat him. While the line was quite iconic, it morphed into something much greater outside the wrestling community.

From a gag about him being really fast, the phrase turned into a joke thatthe world simply could not see Cena. Fans would make jokes that the movie that he featured in would be made fun of for having empty shots, the world acting like they could not see Cena. With how big the gag became, the actor also began to lean into it, making jokes at his own expense here and there.

However, the most recent gag on the same seems to have topped every previous attempt.

John Cena Had a Conversation With The Miz and Fans Loved It

During John Cena’s recent appearance (viaFightful Wrestling), there was quite a hilarious segment that both infuriated and impressed his fans. At one point, The Miz announced to the audience that his next guest would be the greatest of all time, John Cena. The audience began to cheer, the wrestler’s iconic theme song began to play, and the gates opened to allow him entry.

Only, there was no one there. The crowd and the commentators were confused. However, the cameraman and the Miz were not. The cameraman was recording as though Cena was, in fact, there, and the Miz actually asked thin air to have a seat.

This joke will never get old 😂

Fans quickly realized what the segment was trying to show and understood the genius of whoever came up with it. Leaning into the joke that no one can see Cena, WWE had an entire interview with thin air as a running gag.
