George R.R. Martin Promises A Different Ending InThe Winds Of Winter
George R.R. Martin has been working on the sixth novelThe Winds of Winterfor over ten years. Much information has been revealed about the book in the past decade such as the expected length of the novel (approximately more than 1,500 pages) and expected points of view the book would explore. However, there has been no release date yet.
Though many promises of the book’s release have been broken, the author seemed to have been adamant about one promise that he will not break, which is to change the ending from that of HBO’sGame of Thrones. Martin mentioned that he always gets asked whether the ending of the books will be different from that of the show, to which he responded positively. He mentioned that though he has had some plot details in his head for years, his story is taking him further away from the HBO show and that the ending would be quite different.
“What I have noticed more and more of late, however, is my gardening is taking me further and further away from the television series. Yes, some of the things you saw on HBO in GAME OF THRONES you will also see in THE WINDS OF WINTER (though maybe not in quite the same ways)… but much of the rest will be quite different. And really, when you think about it, this was inevitable.”

However, he still did not confirm whether the book would come out anytime soon, and neither did he confirm if he was done writing.
