Ewan McGregor always had big aspirations for his acting career right from the days when he worked as a stagehand at a Scotland theatre. McGregor recalled watching actors perform and fixing his goal as only doing work that’s important. According to McGregor, his dreams came true and millions ofStar Warsfans would agree with that.

McGregor played the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in theStar Warsprequel trilogy and followed it up years later with the eponymous Disney+ series. TheFargoactor was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead, his children, director Mike Mills, andStar Warsco-star Hayden Christensen.

The fame brought him more interesting projects, includingFargowhere he met his future wifeMary Elizabeth Winstead. He returned to hisStar Warsrole in the 2022 Disney+ series,Obi-Wan Kenobi. For his immense contributions to the industry, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday (via ABC News).

During an interview with Variety, McGregor went back to his days before joining Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He was a stagehand at the Perth Repertory Theatre in Scotland. A young McGregor got to watch actors and learn from them. This also helped him to set an ambitious career goal.

TheMoulin Rouge!actor shared that he turned down doing an advert at the age of 16. He had declared at the time that he would only pursue work that was important. Looking back at his ambition, McGregor felt it was pretty arrogant of him. He believes that he was able to achieve his dreams since he had done some important work that touched people’s lives. He shared withVariety:
I watched the actors and I learned from them. One of them was up for an advert or something, and I was 16, and I was like, ‘Oh, I’d never do that — I only ever want to do work that’s important’. What an arrogant thing to say! But I did in my clumsy way mean it. And when I say I’ve achieved my dreams, I think I’ve done work that has been important to people who’ve watched it.

TheBig Fishactor shared that even when he took on the role of Obi-Wan inThe Phantom Menace, he felt responsible for making the character believable for the viewers. He shared that it was his biggest challenge considering he was working with the new green screen technology at the time.

Ewan McGregor loved working in theStar Warsfilms despite not getting the deserved appreciation initially. He wanted to keepAlec Guinness‘ legacy in the role and he took it as a challenge upon himself. McGregor shared with Variety that he hoped to get another shot at Obi-Wan as he felthe had more story to tell. He shared:
I really do hope we get a chance to do another one…. Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.

McGregor’s co-starHayden Christensen was also present during his Walk of Fameceremony. Christensen recalled the heartwarming welcome he received from McGregor duringAttack of the Clones. He shared with Variety that McGregor took him under his wings and guided him through the role which required a lot of emotions amidst all the technicalities.

Christensen shared that it was a no-brainer for him to commit to moreObi-Wan. He loved to do more work with McGregor and watch him play the Jedi Master. Christensen shared:
If it means that I got to do more with Ewan, then that’s a no-brainer, but I really hope that he continues with the character. Just as a fan, it’s so exciting to get to watch him play Obi-Wan — he’s just so good at it.

However, it is currently unclear whether McGregor could return to his role in the second season of the series. In 2023, Kathleen Kennedy noted that a second season was not in consideration at that point (via Variety). However, she addressed the cast’s interest in returning and shared that they might consider the project down the road.
