An Empty Man will see Thorfinn being haunted by his usual nightmares. Before Askeladd’s death, Thorfinn had meaning in his life as he wanted to take revenge. However, after his death, he lost all hope and the purpose of his life. Einer and Sverkel will tell the confused Thorfinn that people can change. What Happened Previously On Vinland Saga?
Episode 31 of Vinland Saga saw Arnheid and Einer’s friendship growing stronger, and the former stated how Sverkel had started liking him and Thorfinn. Ketil’s wife slapped Arnheid for chatting while the breakfast wasn’t even ready. She stated that Kekil would return and might bring some guests, so they needed to prepare food. Einer and Thorfinn then discussed the crops, and the former asked the latter to pray with him for a good harvest.
In the meantime, Ketil returned to the farm with his eldest son, Thorgil, who mentioned his father as “Iron Fist Ketil” and bragged about his father’s battle experiences. Ketil and Thorgil met Snake, who had captured Sture and Thora for stealing food supplies from the farm. It was time for their punishment, which had to be decided by Ketil. Thorgil suggested chopping off one of their arms; however, Ketil didn’t want to give them such severe punishment.
Pater suggested that the kids should work on the farm as a repayment, to which Ketil agreed. But he was also told to thrash Sture for teaching him a valuable lesson. At night, Thorgil and the others partied, and Ketil confessed to Aenheid that everything about him being a war hero was a lie and how much he was afraid of his own son, Thorgil.
