How did Sonic achieve more fame than Mark Wahlberg?
Well, it is a subjective thing a little bit but there are several factors that come into play while adapting a video game. First off, the hours that you need to complete a video game are crammed into a two-hour segment. Second, you need to find the right world to put that movie in.
Unchartedwas based in today’s modern world and while the video games had that storyline, the game felt different. The train sequences, the chase in Madagascar, it all felt as if in a far off different world.
In an interview withThe Digital Fix,Sonic the Hedgehogdirector Jeff Fowler talked about how he approached the creation of a Sonic movie.
I think the first thing is, you really have to just simplify the idea to make it a great movie. I think in the first film, people really related to Sonic. The film had a lot of heart; he was very relatable in terms of just being, you know, an outsider, a kid looking for friends, community, and for family.
He further continued,
But that being said, it’s also so great with a sequel to get to do another film to bring in other characters that fans love, like Tails and Knuckles, and just to up the stakes, and just to have a lot more fun on a much bigger scale.
Well, the stakes did go high inSonic the Hedgehog 3when Keanu Reevesvoiced the role of a dark hedgehog called Shadow. Naturally, the film earned a total of $424 million at the global box office.
