You may know the clumsy but well-meaning Gungan outcast on Naboo, Jar Jar Binks, from theStar Warsmovies and video games he has appeared in but according to some uncovered fan art, Jar Jar has gone straight to the dark side. It’s certainly clear that the character is an already controversial addition to theStar Warsfamily with people either loving him or hating him but it seems this redesign of Jar Jar as Darth has turned people’s reactions of the goofy military commander around - especially so on Twitter.
Senior Character Artist at Roundhouse Studios,Kevin Cassidy, redesigned the comic relief character and turned him into a sinister and rather scary looking Sith Lord Darth Jar Jar instead. Even though this gives the character a whole other presence, I’m still fairly sure this is one piece ofStar Warsart you don’t want hanging in your bedroom, staring at you in the middle of the night. Or maybe you do, people are strange. What’s most noticeable about the art style Cassidy has used is that Jar Jar is even more reptilian than before and his large, bobbly eyes are replaced by smaller and more menacing ones making him look rather creepy.

Of course,Twitter’s reactionhas been a mixed one, full of dismay, horror and love from this particular Jar Jar Binks fan art which has gotten over 55k likes. One Twitter user said that Cassidy’s recreation was “really cool” and “If they ever do an alt version of the movies I want the Darth Jar Jar timeline even more so now” while other comments replied “This is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen” and “Amazing work! So damn good! Can you imagine if he still spoke in the same voice though?”. Check out a few of the comments for yourself embedded below.
