CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the next-gen update for The Witcher 3 is “on track” to release in the fourth quarter of this year.
The update, which will release for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, will take advantage of the next-gen consoles' technical capabilities, according to CD Projekt Red. Although a firm release date for the update has still not been confirmed, a Q4 launch places it anywhere between the beginning of October and the end of December.

The news comes directly from CD Projekt Red, as the development studio “wrapped up” the first half of the year in a newearnings report. The Witcher 3 developers said that “the first six months of 2022 were a busy period for CD Projekt, both businesswise and in terms of operations”.
The Witcher 3’s next-gen update has been highly anticipated for the past few years, with the upgrade originally set to launch last year before being delayed multiple times by CD Projekt Red.
Alongside work on a next-gen update for The Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red recently confirmed that the first paid expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 would launch in 2023. The “Phantom Liberty” DLC will launch exclusively for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and will be theonly major paid expansionfor the game.
The studio is also working on “two AAA projects”, as reaffirmed in the recent earnings report. Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt Red, said that the team are “revisiting a world which is an integral part of CD Projekt Red’s history”.
It has already been confirmed that a new saga of The Witcher series is currently in development, and is being built with Epic Games' Unreal Engine. The developers also announced that there would be multiple new Witcher games coming in the future. Currently, CD Projekt Red are in pre-production for the first Witcher game in a new saga, so it could still be some years until we get our hands on it.
