The Sims 4 Lovestruck Allows Players To Romance The Way They Want
During the expansion pack’s recent digital preview event (ThanksGamesRadar+), senior game designer Josh Contreras discussed a new mechanic coming to the game that will negate the need for mods when it comes to NPC romances.
Contreras confirmed “NPC Sims can actually come and ask you to advance your relationship,” whereas these sims didn’t carry that sense of agency before and required player’s initiative to do the dirty work - which wasn’t too much of an issue for micromanagers.
“When another Sim wants to move forward with the relationship, you’ll get a prompt to accept or reject this change,” Contreras explained further, confirming players will be able to do less grafting to get NPCs together and instead approve their own decisions - enhancing the game’s god-mode persona.
However, if a player prefers to manage everything themselves and they’d rather NPCs didn’t have that much freedom within the world, Contreras said, “If you’d prefer that other Sims don’t recommend these changes, such as asking to become partners or asking to become engaged, you can always turn that off in gameplay settings.”
“Ultimately, we just want you to be able to play your way,” Contreras shared, emphasizing the importance of being able to take on more or less work when it comes to NPC romances. Players are gaining more control of their world at the end of the day.
The Sims 4 Lovestruck expansion will be released on June 05, 2025.
