The popular anime and manga seriesHajime No Ippo, created by manga artist George Morikawa, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for the authoritative rights of people who created their original creative works. Morikawa recently tweeted about how important it is to preserve the original author’s creative vision and how he will always believe that they have the final say.
Morikawa underlined that the purpose of the laws is to protect the original writers’ proprietary rights and authority to make decisions on their works. He emphasized the basic idea that, although readers, editors, and adaptors might be able to shed light on previously published material, only the original author has direct knowledge of the course that their story would take in the future.
Because of this, they have complete control over their work. His words confirm his beliefs that original artists should be given the freedom to exercise their legal rights to the unrestricted maintenance of their intellectual properties. He has indirectly targeted anime studios that change or add their interpretation to the manga creator’s work.

George Morikawa’s Message To Aspiring Manga Artists
Morikawa recently tweeted about the work of a manga creator on hisofficial X accountabout how manga artists have absolute authority over their work. He stated that his tweet was a lesson for aspiring mangakas and how they should have assertiveness in their work despite facing backlash.
He stated:
“The reason is absolute because the original author is absolute. Just as before, this message is also for aspiring manga artists. Despite facing backlash, authors have continuously asserted their absolute authority. The rights of primary creators, including manga artists, novelists, and screenwriters, are protected by law. And what’s crucial is that only the original author knows the future. That’s why it’s absolute.“
He also explained how their rights over their work are protected by the law and only they know the future of their work. He stated that everything seen by readers, including editors and adapters, is already a thing of the past and only the original author knows about the world beyond.

Continuing his message, Morikawa also pointed out that the choice regarding their work lies in the hands of mangakas. They can decide what is the better future for their manga and can even refuse media adaptations if they feel it is the right choice.
“Sometimes, discussions can lead to a better future, and the choice, such as refusing media adaptation, belongs to the original author. This is also absolute.”
He further added:
“I may have come across as assertive and arrogant, but the content I’ve written is my personal opinion, and I don’t think I’m always right. When you encounter trouble, I hope you’ll remember that there have been people who have said and done similar things.”

Finally, Morikawa said that these opinions are his own and while he does not believe that he is always right he wants the future mangakas to understand that there have been people in the past who have felt and experienced the same things.
