After your pod crashes in the Emerald Vale, you’ll end up meetingReed Tobson, the scummy Outpost Administrator forEdgewater. He’s planning to cut off the power to a group of people he calls ‘deserters.’ To get the regulator you need, it’s simply a matter of passing on a message to the deserters: come back to Edgewater before electricity gets cut off.
Maybe, Maybe Not
After you pick up the quest,Parvatijoins you. She’s your very first companion. She will become very useful in your journey. In the meantime, she asks you tovisit the local vicar. Visiting the vicar is not vital to the mission here, but it will get you some XP and more info on the story. Next, headnorth of Edgewater, past the Community Center.

On the journey, watch out for marauders, but conserve your ammo as best you can. Once you get to theBotanical Lab, you’ve arrived at the deserters' camp. Here’s where the controversy starts as the deserters’ leader,Adelaide, offers you a different option: divert power to their camp instead, and you can still take the power regulator. This would lead toEdgewater losing power– and here’s where the rock and hard place present themselves.
It’s About The Journey
Think over your decision. You’ll be able to choose at the last moment. First, you need to hustle over to theGeothermal Power Plantand get past the robot enemies. The front of the place is blocked by an electric barrier, but notice thesmall hole to the right, around the corner. Sneaking around this area is also smart. Once you’re inside the power plant, Parvati will tell you to go right, but you can also explore and find loot if you go left first. Inside thecontrol room(back to the right), you’ll find the black computer with orange text.
This thing really ramps up the guilt as it informs you thatthe power switch is irreversible. Whatever decision you make will stick. A locked ‘manager’ door stands between you and the switches. To bypass, you’ll need topick the lock, then read everything on thecomputerinside toget the passcode. With the door open, one option here is to skip the switches at first and head down to theboiler room. A man namedHigginsis there, a bit off but helpful nonetheless. He offers to help youreprogram the robot enemiespatrolling nearby. Find the terminal upstairs to complete this objective and reprogram the bots. Once they’re dead, you’re on to the 3 switches.

Is That Your Final Answer?
Follow your map to find the 3 switches. After flipping each one, go back to the control room. It’s here that Parvati will make her case. She wants you topreserve Edgewater, but that’s unsurprising – Parvati is from Edgewater. Here’s where you’ll have to make your big choice. Divert to Edgewater and destroy the deserters camp or de-power Edgewater for some hippie gardeners.
There’s no going back. What’s done is done. After making your impossible choice, you’ll end up talking to the respective leader of the group you’ve just destroyed. Just to rub it in. However, if youchoose Edgewater, there is a morewin/win option. After she calls you a snake, you can convince Adelaide to become the new leader of Edgewater. You’ll have to convince Reed to step down – through violence or otherwise though. Despite what choice you make, with thepower regulatorupgrading your ship, it’s time to fly off and explore Halcyon.
