While on the live-action side, it’s been a hit-or-miss situation for Netflix originals, mostly misses as only a few of the originals aren’t always inherently bland, this isn’t the case for their Animation slate. Although it has been only a few years since Netflix created their first original animated feature,Klaus, one of the greatest Christmas films of all time, they’ve seemingly cemented themselves as one of the best in it.

Unsurprisingly, the streaming service witnessed yet another gem this holiday season, Amber Noizumi and Michael Green’sBlue Eye Samurai, which even left George R.R. Martin speechless.

“Blue Eye Samurai has the most gorgeous art that I have ever seen. The story is terrific as well. Set in Japan during the Edo period, it is violent, visceral, sexy (and more than a little kinky in spots), with amazing action sequences and a cast of well-developed characters, colorful and complex and real. Flawed heroes, villains who are more than cartoons (though they are cartoons, being drawn, after all).”

Being a huge fan of the medium itself, George R.R. Martin revealed they’re also working on getting a few animated spin-offs ofGOTrunning, as he further lauded the Netflix show.
