Three years later,ÂThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildÂremains one of the best-looking games on Nintendo Switch. Not just for the small details and nuances to the open-world setting, but also the vibrant re-imagining of Hyrule. But what if that setting was compacted into aÂMinish Cap-esque GBA game? A fan of the title has done just that, and boy is it a title I would love to play through. The sprite art version ofÂThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildÂwas created by London-based Game Designer and concept artist, Joseph Gribbin. The Tweet went viral (spreading across Twitter and Reddit) ever since it was posted:

With that said, don’t think that completing a sprite art recreation of a game (from the ground up) is a small task. Anyone familiar with Gribbin and his work knows that he has been working on the project as far back as Fall 2018:

With that said, he doesn’t have a ton of these projects in the work – and for good reason. Only a couple of weeks ago he finished his own indie puzzle game titledÂMagniboxwhich, yes, also has his own hand-crafted art:

But going back toÂThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildÂartwork, it’s hard not to pine over what this game could be. For classic gamers, there will always be a nostalgia for pixel and sprite-based art – especially when talking about a top-downÂZeldastyle game. So while Nintendo is busy toiling away on the remaster ofÂThe Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, maybe they should consider doing a demaster ofÂBreath of the Wild.

Even if there hasn’t been a new release inÂThe Legend of ZeldaÂseries for the past few years, that doesn’t mean that fans aren’t flexing their artistic muscle. Last week we wrote about some of theamazing leatherworkthat people are implementing in Nintendo Switch cases, while others choose to take art in acompletely new direction for the somberÂMajora’s Mask.

In otherÂThe Legend of ZeldaÂnews, developerMonolith Soft seems to be bulking up staffto work on a new game in the series. Additionally, a recent leak suggests thatÂA Link to the PastÂmay be making a jump to Nintendo Switch soon, alongsideÂMetroid Prime TrilogyÂandÂPersona 5.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s AwakeningÂwill be coming to Nintendo Switch exclusively sometime in 2019. If you are interested in dipping into the source material (which is arguably the bestÂZelda game), you may pick up the title on Nintendo 3DSÂvia Amazon.
