The recent negative review episode that transpired withHelldivers 2is a testament to how things can go down the drain with just one mistake. That’s why developers can’t afford to make them. However, now that it has happened, the team behind the popular game will seemingly do anything in their power to reverse the effect.

The decision regarding Helldivers 2 came from Sony, not Arrowhead.

Beginning with an apology, the head developer said they’ll keep providing a great game experience to regain the community’s trust. While all are busy making plans to deal with the situation at Arrowhead, it has taken a toll on CEO too. However, he appears to be tackling it well for now.

It’s Just Sad to See Him Tackling All That Alone And Smiling

Many will feel sad for Johan Pilestedt if they come across the stand he is taking amid the rapid fire of negative game reviews and comments. No one wants all the fuss that has been going around, just enjoy the game without ruining the experienceHelldivers 2has delivered up until now. Even Pilestedt said he just wants to “make great games“.

As fans fill the review section with thousands of negative reviews, some fans can see the unhappy place Johan Pilestedt is in. A user named Monopolyman IDK expressed on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that he is the best CEO given how he is handling all this.

The fact you can laugh at this just shows You’re literally the best game Dev CEO such a shame this is happening

Pilestedt too, apologized to the community in his post while also sharing the screenshot depicting the game’s gut-wrenched review section.

Thousands of negative reviews have been dropped following Sony’s announcement.

Ouch, right in the review score 😢🤕

Well, I guess it’s warranted. Sorry everyone for how this all transpired. I hope we will make it up and regain the trust by providing a continued great game experience.

“Internal discussions are ongoing”: Helldivers 2 May Yet be Saved as Arrowhead Reportedly Push Back Against Sony-enforced PSN/Steam Controversy

Sony has clarified that the move will help them ban abusive players, and they were supposed to do it with the game’s launch but didn’t, citing some technical issues. The community’s outrage can clearly be seen inHelldivers‘ Reddit community as fans keep showing their disagreement with the move.

Helldivers 2 Fans’ Reluctancy Might Actually Be The Fear

Linking PSN and Steam accounts isn’t exactly rocket science and takes only a few minutes, but fans are still showing reluctance toward it. Though Sony talks about safety and security, it is a well-known fact that the PlayStation Network was breached in 2011 and compromised the data of 77 million accounts. Maybe that explains the reluctance among fans.

Then there are countries where PSN doesn’t operate, and the recent account linking mandate would prevent players from these regions from playing the game. On the brighter side, Arrowhead’s community manager says that they may not make it mandatory in those regions, provided the developers don’t come up with a better solution.

Unfortunately, Arrowheaddoesn’t have a say in the decisionwhich makes the developers sort of a victim of corporate affairs.Fans across the globe are literally pushing the limits of their devicesto play the game. With popularity like that, Sony should reconsider what they are doing to make a successful product that still has a lot of potential left to grow.
