Glen Powell is aptly one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood today. While his debut came way back inSpy Kidsin 2003, the 35-year-old has seen multiple successful roles come his way in the last few years. Now looking forward to the release ofTwisters,Powell has appeared in movies such asAnyone But YouandTop Gun: Maverick,and generally finds himself in high demand.

However, that did not seem true to the actor when during his years of struggle. Powell went to his fair share of failed auditions but has never been the kind of person who would take things negatively. The actor has been utterly professional right from the start, and spent years getting rejected for a plethora of major roles.
To break the norm, one of his agents even gave him a peculiar piece of advice. They wanted Powell to not be as punctual as he was, and act like a ‘cool actor.’

Speaking to GQ, Powell went into detail about his struggles during a recent interview. The actor revealed that he had been rejected for a range ofmajor roles that he wanted, which include those in movies such asOppenheimer, Captain America,andSolo.
While years of rejection gave him plenty of worry, Powell always did his best and would be as professional as he possibly could be. This included being utterly punctual for audition, something which an agent suggested might be playing against his hand:

As it turned out, this made the actor believe that movie auditions in themselves might not only revolve around merit, but luck as well:
There’s definitely a bit of a game [to the whole thing]. It was clear to me very early on that it’s not a meritocracy, and I still believe that. I still believe that the best guy doesn’t necessarily get the job. You can’t just be good – you also have to be very lucky.

WhileGlen Powell’stalent means that he would generally hold out for a meritocracy, it would be fair to say that thingsworked out eventually for the actor. Part of multiple successful projects in recent years, Powell also revealed that he expects to work with Christopher Nolan in the near future!

As it turns out, Powell also revealed that he was in the running for the role of Ernest Lawrence inOppenheimer,which eventually went to Josh Hartnett. However, the actor revealed that he is still in touch with Christopher Nolan and believes that he will get to work with the legendary director in the future.
However, for the time being,Oppenheimerjoins a list of impressive projects that Powell became almost a part of, but was eventually rejected. The actor revealed that he came utterly close to playing the role of Han Solo in 2018’sSolo A Star Wars Story.He was close to playing Captain American instead of Chris Evans initially, and even auditioned for the role of Harrison Ford’s son inCowboys & Aliens.

While that role eventually went to Paul Dano, he also lost out onThe Longest Roadto Scott Eastwood. Hence, while there eventually came multiple iconic roles for the actor, Glen Powell had to wait his turn, and was rejected multiple times before his recent breakthroughs.
