This article from the Disney+ series The Acolyte (2024) Season 1 Episode 3 contains significant spoilers.
The third episode of the Disney+ streaming seriesThe Acolytebegins with the origin story of Mae and Osha on the planet of Brendok. They are children, and Osha is in a lush green forest playing with a pink-winged creature that looks like aStar Warsversion of a hummingbird. Mae then comes along and begins to control the creature with the Force, which upsets Osha.
Why? It appears Mae is using the Force to control (or even punish) the creature against its will. They make up, but then Mother Coral approaches them. She berates them, telling Mae and Osha they cannot be out here alone. She whisks them back to safety, not knowing Sol is watching them from behind a tree.

Disney+’sThe Acolyte(2024) Season 1 Episode 3 Recap: Who is Mother Aniseya?
The mother is Aniseya (Jodie Turner-Smith), the parent of Mae and Osha. She says her “sweet girls need sweet treats.” According to StarWars.com, “Mother Aniseya is the leader of a mysterious coven of witches on Brendok who value their independence and the preservation of their beliefs and powers.” Aniseya knows the Jedi are near, and they will target her children because of their powers.
Aniseya teaches her daughters that Force is not something you wield. Also, two is better than one. However, the sisters keep fighting with each other. In fact, Osha seems to be fighting to be part of the coven of witches. Osha tells Mae that they are not the same, and it only feels that way because they are the only children on Brendok.
Why Did Mother Aniseya and Her People Move to Brendok?
Aniseya and her coven of witches fled their home to Brendok because their powers were perceived as dangerous. They valued their independence, beliefs, powers, and traits that the Jedi held dear. Aniseya performs a ceremony celebrating their survival in Brendok. Aniseya then announces their saviors, Mae and Osha, as the coven separates like the Red Sea to let them through.
Mother Coral leads the coven of witches in chanting, “The power of one, the power of two, and the power of many!” Then, as her daughters kneel before her, she asks the children something extraordinary (and a lot of pressure on a child): “Do you vow upon my death to protect the secrets of our covenant and continue our legacy?”
Mae says yes, and Aniseya performs the ritual. Osha does as well, but reluctantly. However, before she can finish the ritual for her daughter, she is interrupted by an announcement: The Jedi are here.

What Jedi Visit Brendok?
Indara, Sol, Torbin, and Kelnacca are the Jedi who visit Brendok. (I know, that cannot be a coincidence, right?) The four Jedi want to test Aniseya’s children to see if they will make good Jedi Padawans. They claim to have no children, but Kelnacca sniffs them out. Sol(Lee Jung-jae)offers Osha his lightsaber, and Osha accepts it. He asks her if she would like to be tested. Osha says yes.
Then, Aniseya puts Torbin in a trance, and his eyes turn pitch black. She reminds them that Brendok is not part of the Republic, and they will leave if they want Torbin to be in his right mind again. Osha pleads with her mother that she wants to be tested. Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss) tells Aniseya that “you cannot deny” that the Jedi have a right to test them but with her permission.
Why Does Osha Want To Be a Jedi?
Osha tells her mother that she doesn’t want to share her life with Mae and wants her own. Before that, inThe Acolyte, Aniseya tells them that the scouts will bring Osha to their camp for the evaluation. Then Sol, who says they have not taken children before, demands that both be tested (talk about sticking around long enough to become the villain). Aniseya, for some reason, agrees.
Aniseya wants Osha to follow her heart and is supportive, but she shows them how to fake the test. Mae fakes the test, but the Jedi trick Osha into admitting she is faking. Sol manipulates Osha by explaining how the Jedi took him at age four and that there are other kids she can study with at the Jedi Academy.
Mae confronts Osha later, telling her she cannot go or she will kill her. Mae then starts a fire after locking Osha in her room.

In the newStar Warschapter, Sol tells Osha that Mae started a fire and killed everyone. However, we are not so sure. We know Mae caused a fire in their bedroom that spread, causing an explosion. However, why was Torbin so broken up about what happened in Brendok? My gut feeling is that Sol lies to Osha, and Mae confirms the deaths but is not responsible for them. Then who?
Probably Indara and her friends, including Sol. Moving on, the explosion damages a bridge, separating the twins and causing them to fall apart. Sol saves Osha, grabbing her hand, but not Mae. Sol invites Osha to come back to Coruscant to be his Padawan. We last see Mae still on the planet in Brendok, alone and still alive.

No,The Acolytedoes not have a post-credits scene at the end of season one and episode three. StarAmandla Stenbergdoes not appear in this episode.
