Avengers: Endgame was one of the most culturally significant films of all time. It was the perfect example of Marvel at its finest, with some of the loudest theaters that had fans feeling an entire range of emotions. However, sadness was the one most felt by fans, who could not believe that they were seeing the legendary Tony Stark die in front of their eyes.

It would not be too far-fetched to say that the film traumatized many fans. However, it would seem that there was an earlier version of the movie which would have been a lot darker, one where Chris Evans’ Captain America gets decapitated.

A Draft OfAvengers: EndgameTook On A Different Tone

Avengers: Endgamehad some of the most iconic scenes in the entire MCU. From the jokes to character interactions, fight sequences, and not to mention, the portal scene. It is safe to say that the entire film was a masterpiece and was even treated as such by fans, who have put it up on a pedestal.

Many would refer to it as a perfect film without giving it much thought. However, a recently revealed detail may make them question the high regard they have for the final version of the movie. It was revealed byMarvel Facts on Xthat there was an early draft of the movie that was supposed to be much darker than what the final product was.

Steve Roger’s Would Not Have Seen It Coming

It is difficult to topAvengers: Endgamewhen it comes to traumatizing fans. With the fresh wound of Avengers: Infinity War still in their memory, bringing Thanos back with the same goal was scary on its own. On top of this, the movie forcedthem to see the dead bodies of Natasha Romanoffand the great Tony Stark, played byRobert Downey Jr.Hence, It is safe to say that audiences left the theater crying.

However, the one word that would not be used to define the movie is ‘dark’. Although, it would seem that an early draft of the movie would have changed that. In the 2019 film, Captain America from 2023 famously fights his 2012 version, both played by Chris Evans. The duel ends with our version of the character winning, and the one from the past being left in the dust.

Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America

However, in the early script, this would not have been the last we would have seen of him, as Rogers from the past would have made an appearance during the portal scene; well, half of an appearance. According to the early draft, Thanos would have entered through a portal, throwing the head of the 2012 Steve Rogers in front of the 2023 one.

This version would have certainly been a lot darker, introducing Marvel fans to upcoming ‘darker’ projects likeMoon Knight, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, andWerewolf by Night.
