When the world was dominated by the Big Three, Tite Kubo’sBleachbecame the black sheep that started off strong but could not remain consistent until the end. However, many otaku consider it a series that fairly outclasses the other two masterpieces of its time for featuring stunning visuals and compelling actions from the characters.

This was evident when the mangaka decided to feature one of the most popular side characters in the show, Byakuya Kuchiki. From his very first appearance in the show, the viewers were intrigued by his arrogant personality. Though at first, the 28th Head of the Kuchiki Clan was shown to be a man full of arrogance who was a terrifying villain early on in the series.
However, Kubo-Sensei took a step, where many considered him to be insane, only to pull off the most insane character development that took the Captain’s fame to another level.

Tite Kubo’s genius move initiated Byakuya Kuchiki’s path to redemption
Tite Kubo’sBleachstarted off slow, but it started to develop pace once the Soul Society decided to capture Rukia Kuchiki for losing her Shinigami powers, bringing his foster sister to justice. Thus, making his first appearance in the human world with his trusty lieutenant, Renji Abarai.
Right off the bat, he exhibited terrifying combat skills and a sturdy sense of justice, which would not falter even if it was their family member on the bitter side of the stick. However, as the series progressed, the Captain of the 6th Squad of Gotei 13 underwent massive changes after meeting our protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, where he learned a few things that make him a new man altogether.

“Their Zanpakuto are moody b*tches”: Tite Kubo Has Not Really Given the Worst Shikai to Marechiyo or Soi Fon Despite Their Lackluster Fights
For starters, he considered himself to be an elite and aristocratic man coming from one of the four noble houses of the Soul Society, which made him repulsive towards many. His attitude continued to change, and he developed to be a nobleman, where he shed the last bit of his so-called noble pride while battling with Zommari Rureaux during the invasion of Hueco Mundo.
Recently, a Reddit user took tor/Bleach, sharing a still of the Captain from the battle, asking,“Why’d Byakuya let all this happen before he dropped his bankai?”A fan cleared the doubt, stating that they believe“that was the last bit of his arrogance”as a“noble and powerful shinigami”that stopped him from reaching his potential.

This was evident when Byakuya nearly knocked on death’s gate because of his arrogance, assuming that he could take down his opponent without using his Bankai. They further explained,
The primary reason behind not using his Bankai was because, up until now, he had to fully release his Zanpakuto when he battled other Captains of Gotei 13. However, the battle with Ichigo made him break the rule, where he was compelled to manifest the full power of his Zanpakuto to take down the Substitute Shinigami.

This change in attitude wasone of the many bold moves in the series, as he is the most popular Captain in the Gotei 13, and one wrong move would have destroyed the massive fanbase that cherished him.
Bleachfans give their take on Byakuya’s showdown with Zommari Rureaux
While this scene actively played the role of giving a major character development to our favorite Captain, the fight with the Arrancar got mixed opinions from the fans.
The post was quick to receive some criticism from the viewers who were trolling the Squad Leader for poorly assessing the situation and how he could have ended the fight without taking so many serious hits. The fans commented,
However, some came to the rescue of the character, where they stated how those injuries were necessary to overcome his hubris, and most importantly,Bleach’sfights are more strategic than power level-based. They commented,
Nevertheless, the fight added to his complexity, where overcoming his pride as a noble Soul Reaper just added another layer of intrigue to the character, who at most times was in conflict with himself.
