Ryan Reynolds’s cinematic prowess and acting has never failed to amaze fans. The actor’s impeccable comic timing coupled withDeadpool’sunique red and black suit has set the franchise apart in the crowded universe of superhero movies. Not only that, but the sequel to the original, released in 2018, introduced several other characters as members ofDeadpool’sX-Force.

But in that list, only Peter, played by Rob Delaney, made a cameo in the recently releasedDeadpool & Wolverine. This has left the fans online confused as to why Ryan Reynolds was more interested in choosing Peter rather than other characters who could have added more value to the third installment.
Major Characters From X-Force Remain Absent From Deadpool 3 Except Peter
The character of Peter was introduced inDeadpool 2whenRyan Reynolds‘ Wade Wilson puts out an ad to recruit superheroes to build a team (later named X-Force). The powerless character meets his deadly end when he tries to rescue Zeitgeist (Bill Skarsgard) from a woodchipper. But during the mid-credit sequence,Deadpooluses time travel to reverse his death.
After the movie, Peter became a fan favorite, even going as far as to get his own verified Twitter profile in 2018. Further, that phase also saw several fans dressing up as the character for movie screenings. Owing to this, a fan commented on X that bringingbackthe character inDeadpool 3felt more like fan service.

That’s what happens when a movie is pure fan service
Other fans also chimed in the comments section and detailed howDeadpool 3missed out on other key characters from the sequel. Further, they wanted Domino, Russell, or Cable back in the third installation as well.

It felt super odd to not have Russel even be mentioned, especially since I watched 2 prior to going to the movies.
I’m going to assume him and Domino were off doing some mission with the X-Men; and Cable went home.

In the movie he says they didn’t test well in the focus group. Damn shame too, since Domino was arguably the best part of that movie.
Cable I understand coz I assume he went back to the future but yeah idk why Domino and Russell were absent

In an interview viaCollider, actress Zazie Beetz confirmed that she won’t be reprising her role as Domino inDeadpool & Wolverine. The reason for the same has been reported to be budgetary constraints. On the other hand, Josh Brolin, who portrayed Cable inDeadpool 2, had also denied his participation (viaScreen Rant).

Other characters that have also not returned in the third installment are Weasel (TJ Miller) and Firefist (Julian Dennison), among others. Fans believe that the inclusion of these characters would have added more story value toDeadpool & Wolverine. On the subject of TJ Miller, it makes complete sense why the actor was not a part of the third installment.
The Reason for TJ Miller’s Absence From Deadpool & Wolverine
TJ Miller played Weasel in the initial twoDeadpoolmovies and was Wade Wilson’s non-powered friend. While the duo played closest friends in the movie, in reality, things were not so cool between them. In 2022, after four years ofDeadpool 2, Miller launched a strong critique of Ryan Reynolds, accusing the actor of being extremely rude and mean on set. During an interview on theAdam Carolla Show(viaUnilad), he added:
So, he was like, ‘You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you do just enough exposition so that it’s funny, and then we can leave and get back to the real movie.
He further expressed the sentiment that he would never want to work with Reynolds again. But soon after this, Miller retracted his statements and suggested that it was a“misunderstanding” and that he has reconciled with Reynolds.

But despite this, his absence from the third installment remained a major topic of speculation. It is also widely believed that TJ Miller’s sexual assault allegations might have led the makers as well as Reynolds to not include him inDeadpool & Wolverine.
