My Hero Academiahas been creating waves in the anime world with the addition of Season 7. Kōhei Horikoshi’s work has become the talk of the town because of his amazing narrative and the complexities between good and evil. Not many fans know that Horikoshi struggled with inspiration while designing theMy Hero Academiauniverse.

The mangaka’s passion and interest in the superhero genre captivated several viewers. Not to mention, the final battle between heroes and villains changes the audience’s perspective of many characters drastically. From Shigaraki to Dabi, every League of Villains member suffered from a traumatic past.
Indeed, experiencing such mental anguish at an early age developed their mistrust towards heroes who were known as the symbol of peace throughout the series. Nevertheless, Horikoshi did a fascinating job depicting society’s misbehavior towards villains, leading them to a dark path. However, there’s one character story fans believe didn’t deserve such a traumatic end.

My Hero AcademiaFandom Debates Horikoshi’s Influence on Twice’s Villainy
AsMy Hero Academia‘s manga approaches its conclusion, Twice with his sorrow story has become the new center of attention. The fandom argues thatKōhei Horikoshiforced him into villainy and never allowed him to search for goodness in others.
Twice, also known as Jin Bubaigawara, is one of the most tragic figures introduced in the series. The traumatic past followed by loneliness pushed Twice to the edge and join the League of Villains.

Through Twice’s character, Horikoshi wanted to showcase how neglect and betrayal can affect an individual’s actions. Indeed, the mangaka did a fascinating job with Twice’s design as it garnered a lot of sympathy from fans before his demise. Since Jin’s story seems so realistic, many viewers can see a lot of the resemblance to the character.
Following all the sorrowful emotions to the sympathetic ending Twice has turned theMy Hero Academiafandom against the mangaka. Among all the villains, Twice has received the most condolence from the fans.

Despite all his villainous deeds, Twice remains one of the most beloved characters in the series. Twice lost all his sanity after learning about Hawk’s betrayal, which acted as a breaking point and pushed him to his demise.
Twice: The Villain Whose Tragic Past Led Him to Darkness inMy Hero Academia
My Hero Academia‘s resemblance to superhero genres, similar toMarvelandDC, played a vital role in its success. With all the pieces coming together at the end of the final saga, many fans’ perspectives on morality were challenged.
Twice was the perfect character for Horikoshi to narrate how society’s influence can greatly impact a person’s character. The mangaka introduced Jin as an orphan who was suffering from isolation at an early stage. Besides all the traumatic experiences, Twice was gifted with a powerful quirk. A lot of anime watchers even resembledNaruto‘s Shadow Clone Jutsu after witnessing Jin’s quirk on the screen.

However, unlikeNaruto, Twice’s quirk put a lot of psychological toll on his body. This led him to suffer from several issues, like identity crises and mental breakdowns. After losing both his parents in a villain attack, Jin went into a stage of isolation where he would only rely on his clones for companionship. Although he was trying his best to keep up with society’s mistreatment, his solitary state only pushed him more to the edge.

Unfortunately, Jin witnessed all his companions (clones) murder each other while being tied to a chair. This traumatic experience served as a breaking point for Twice and uncertainty of his real identity. Despite all the depressing events, Jin managed to find hope by joining the League of Villains.
As all the villains made Twice comfortable in his skin, his desperation to make friends and quit isolation was over. However, everything turns south when Jin learns about Hawk’s betrayal in Season 6 Episode 3. After becoming close to Hawks and unknowingly acting as his informant, Twice lost his sanity by the revelation of another betrayal.
Undoubtedly, Hawks and the heroes were only able to infiltrate the Villains’ hideout by gaining Twice’s trust. This led Jin to blame himself for the Hawk’s betrayal and a tragic showdown between the two. This rollercoaster ride of emotions made several fans sympathize with the villain and turn them against the mangaka for poor character design.
