George RR Martin, the author behind the famousA Song of Ice and Firesaga, has often talked about the differences between the show and the books. WithGame of Thronesbeing an adaptation of his novels, the show deviated significantly from the books.

Some deviations were reasonable since they had to end the show at some point. However, some storylines were changed completely. RR Martin touched upon one particular storyline from the show that he felt his character would never do in the books.
George RR Martin’s Littlefinger Would Never Have Done This
It was 2011 when the world was introduced to Aiden Gillen’s Lord Petyr Baelish inGame of Thrones.Pretending to be an ally to Sean Bean’s Ned Stark, it was Baelish who held a knife to Stark’s throat and said“I told you not to trust me”.
Ever since that moment, fans have been envious, nervous, admiring, and in awe of the genius of Petyr Baelish. The character was as unpredictable as can be and he is very much the same in the books as well.

“I didn’t know what the hell I had”: George RR Martin Originally Planned Game of Thrones as a Short Story With the Most Abrupt Ending
However, in a new book by James Hibberd called“Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon”(viaBusiness Insider), George RR Martin revealed that the show deviated at one major point. After taking Sansa Stark to the Vale, Petyr Baelish makes a marriage bond between the little dove and Ramsey Bolton of the north.
My Littlefinger would have never turned Sansa over to Ramsay. Never. He’s obsessed with her. Half the time he thinks she’s the daughter he never had — that he wishes he had, if he’d married Catelyn.

TheFire & Bloodauthor further continued,
And half the time he thinks she is Catelyn, and he wants her for himself. He’s not going to give her to somebody who would do bad things to her. That’s going to be very different in the books.

Not only is Sansa Stark in the Vale in the books, but several characters are at a different point in time compared to the series.A Dance With Dragonscame out in 2011 and that is the last book that George RR Martin has published inA Song of Ice and Firesaga.

With fans waiting for the author to finishThe Winds of Winter, the books are indeed quite far behind compared to the show. Although the show had a distinctively bad ending, the books might be a bit more promising.
George RR Martin’s End Will Be Very Different Than The Show!
As the writer ofA Song of Ice and Firesaga,George RR Martinis the only guy capable of bringing the books to an end. Since it was his idea, his characters, and his universe, the author knows his world better than anyone.
That is why whenGame of Thronesseason 8 aired its last ever episode, RR Martin couldn’t help but be a little emotional. After all, the journey took several years to finish and Martin took to hisblogto talk about it.

I am working in a very different medium than David and Dan, never forget. They had six hours for this final season. I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3000 manuscript pages between them before I’m done… and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, I’ll add them.
He continued,
Book or show, which will be the ‘real’ ending? It’s a silly question. How many children did Scarlett O’Hara have? How about this? I’ll write it. You read it. Then everyone can make up their own mind, and argue about it on the internet.
It has been approximately 5 years since George RR Martin wrote this blog. The world has not received a published book forThe Winds of Winter. However, fans eagerly anticipate what the futureholds for their favorite characters in the books (since it is George RR Martin, it isprobably not a happy ending).
