Will Taron Egerton’s new film carry on?

Recently,Taron Egertonmade an appearance on theToday Show, where he talked about his recently released film,Carry-On.Among many things for the promotion of the project, the actor was specifically asked about the film getting a potential sequel considering its success.

When asked such a question, most celebrities jump at the idea of reviving a character, stating that if the fans want a sequel, the production would be more than happy to come back. However, Egerton took a much more realistic approach, keeping the film’s storyline in mind when considering the possibility of a sequel.

The film follows the story of a young airline security guard who finds himself being blackmailed by a passenger who is trying to sneak a dangerous package onto a plane. One can imagine that such situations do not happen very frequently and would be very weird if they did.

It’s kind of like an extraordinary set of circumstances, so I think it would need a really innovative, creative idea to feel like a worthy idea for a sequel.

With this, Egerton stated that since they cannot capitalize on the same idea twice, they would have to come up with a very good premise if they wanted to come back for another film.

While Egerton’s thoughts on a potential sequel for the film are quite rational, he did change his mind about the same by the end of his sentence. He compared his film toBruce Willis’Die Hardmore than once in the interview, pointing out that both projects exude similar themes.

When the bomb passes through security, Egerton’s character, Ethan Kopek, channels his inner John McClane and takes it upon himself to save as many people as he can. With this in mind, the comparison certainly stands. However, the actor took it a step further and talked aboutDie Hard 2.

Even though Willi’s first film had a unique premise, the second film was still made, and it ended up working very well among fans. Keeping this in mind, Egerton stated that ifDie Hardwas able to get a sequel, then so could his film.

Carry-Onis available for streaming on Netflix.
