IsTales of Arisethe best selling game in the JRPG series?

Right now,Tales of Ariseis according to Bandai Namco the fastest game in the series to reach 1 million copies sold. It reached this milestone in a week.

Meanwhile, the three best-selling games worldwide areaccording to Bandai Namco:Tales of Destinywith 1,720,000 copies,Tales of Symphoniawith 2,400,000 copies, andTales of Vesperiawhich just reached 2,880,000 copies.

Right now,Tales of Ariseis still behind, but if it keeps this momentum, it could get a very good spot in the ranking of the best-selling games in the series.

Personally, I believe there are several reasons whyTales of Ariseis selling so well. First, the game has probably been in development sinceBerseria’s release five years ago. And while the development was hit by the pandemic, Bandai Namco didn’t cut corners and delayed the game from its 2020 planned release. The fact that it got a worldwide release, including on Steam, must have greatly helped too. Especially with Steam preorders open, which means price adjustments were in place for countries outside western Europe and North America.

Lastly, a special illustration with protagonists Alphen and Shionne was shared for the occasion, drawn by character designer and art director Minoru Iwamoto. You can find it below. Meanwhile, the new mobile gameTales of Luminariawill soon get a livestream, read the details here.

What do you guys think ofTales of Ariseso far? Personally I believe it’s the best game in the series in a while, surpassingTales of Xillia 1 and 2,Zestiria,andBerseriaby far. So I’m pretty happy the sales forTales of Ariseare doing so well, and hopefully the remasters and remakes are coming soon. I’m hoping forTales of Destiny 2to finally be released outside Japan. you may always tell me your thoughts on the JRPG series through Twitter@A_iyane07.
