Sword of the Sea is a game that offers a range of typical biomes to explore, from rolling sand dunes that will give you nostalgic Journey flashbacks, to molten, volcanic environments that will burn you to cinders if you’re not careful.

On the other end of the temperature spectrum, you have the Shadow Tundra. A snowy level where you’ll learn to boost and be tasked with clearing huge gaps to reach all the secrets this area has to offer.

The secrets, of course, are the shells which are hidden rather craftily around this area, which is especially mean considering their shimmering white hue blends into the environment. But with this guide, you’ll be able to gather this collection in no time.

Please be aware that the developer (Giant Squid) informed us after we had completed these collectible guides that they had plans to relocate these assets in their final update. However, we were given no warning of this via pre-release documentation. We are working under the assumption that the vast majority of shells will still be located as listed below. However, these guides may be slightly inaccurate through no fault of our own. We will endeavor to amend them if needed when a day-one patch becomes available.

The bad news is that the first shell is hidden in the snowstorm, where visibility is terrible. But the good news is that it isn’t too tricky to spot.

Follow the path of the pointing statues, and eventually you’ll come to the door leading to the next area. When you do, double back to the last statue you found and climb to the top, where, on the tip of their sword, you’ll find a shell.

The second shell you will encounter in this snow-filled area is in the large open area with the giant stone statue, just after the snowstorm puzzle. You’ll need to climb to the top of the statue, and at the very tip of its sword, you’ll find a shell.

After this area is cleansed, and you use the chain to move along, you’ll head along an icy corridor which leads to a tunnel where you can loop-de-loop to your heart’s content.

But if you reach that tunnel, you’ve gone too far. You’ll want to look to your right along this icy cave path and examine the wall. Do so, and you’ll find a little alcove with a shell.

After the loop-de-loop tunnel, you’ll come to an area with pillars and windows letting beams of light through. Again, examine the wall to your right, and you’ll notice one of the little chained window-like openings will be missing a chain, and will be hiding your next shell.

After this area, you will enter the first open area, where you will be encouraged to use boosts to get sick air and clear huge gaps, which is exactly what you’ll need to do to grab your next shell.

As you enter this area, look up, and you’ll see a series of three broken bridge parts above. You’ll need to chain boosts to jump from one to the next, and on the furthest one, you’ll find a shell.

After you get the shell via that huge leap, you’ll want to turn your attention to the area on the right, where you need to clear a gap to access an icy area with loads of dead animal skeletons.

You’ll want to use these skeletons to grind your way up to the place where you may cleanse the room. But before you do that, you should be able to jump directly up into the skull of the dead animal and find a shell nestled away in there.

Once you activate the tower and drop down into the next open area, you’ll want to hook off to the left and head towards that tower.

However, once you clear the gap to the island that it is on, ignore the tower and head behind it and down the hill. Here you’ll find a shark statue along with the Stele Message ‘The Great Shark’. Simply platform behind the Shark statue and you’ll find another shell.

Now head to the other tower and head up to the top of the icy hills, allowing you to platform over there. But don’t do that; this is just to give you a starting point. Head down the hill, sticking to the left. Then, along this path, you’ll see a snow mound that makes a rather convenient ramp.

Get some air, and at the top of the large arch that you should be able to get a bird’s-eye view on, you’ll find your next shell.

For the next shell, repeat this process as above, but instead of taking the ramp up ahead, stop just shy of the ramp and look to your right. You should see a gap in the rocks and in a little hideaway, you’ll find another shell for your collection.

As you head towards the exit door to finish the level, if you examine the icicles on the right behind the shark statue, you’ll notice a gap in the ice. Head through and follow the path until you reach the area with yet another shell.
