If you’ve been diligently gathering every single shell on your grand quest so far, you should only be five shells away from completing your collection. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that, to get the last few, you’ll need to traverse seas of molten lava to find the last shells you need. It will take some careful platforming and some perceptive treasure hunting. But if you may stand the heat, you just find them all without burning to a crisp.
To help you do that, we have hunted down all the available Shells in this area, allowing you to pick them off as you go.
Please be aware that the developer (Giant Squid) informed us after we had completed these collectible guides that they had plans to relocate these assets in their final update. However, we were given no warning of this via pre-release documentation. We are working under the assumption that the vast majority of shells will still be located as listed below. However, these guides may be slightly inaccurate through no fault of our own. We will endeavor to amend them if needed when a day-one patch becomes available.
The first shell you will find is in the first open lava-filled area where you see your snake-like foe for the first time in this level.
You’ll notice two rocky pillars on both the left and right of this area. Head to the left and head to the back of this jagged rock, moving fast to avoid burning. Do this, and you’ll find a shell hidden behind.
The second wheel in this molten maze is located in the area just after where you solve the first bubble puzzle. In the next room, after opening the gate, turn right and climb up the rocks, then along the narrow path and across the gap to the large archway. Do this, and you’ll find a shell on the last platform.
The first shell is located in the open area just after the set piece where you ride downhill alongside the snake. Once in the open area, head into the middle of the lava and then look right.
You’ll see a boat on its side acting as a convenient ramp to the narrow stone pathway above. Platform all the way across until you reach the shark statue, and then in a little cove, you’ll find a shell.
After the third shell, drop down and head to the back left corner of this area. There will be a little safety platform away from the lava, and a break in the wall ahead.
The goal here is to move fast through this gap to avoid burning up. But if you can, you’ll find a shell at the end of the path.
The last shell you will find in this area is found in the area where you’ll be grinding on all the skeleton spines. Head up to the ‘When Water Battles Fire’ Stele Message.
Then, from there, jump ahead to the rock platforms and then left into a little cave. Inside, you can grind another Skelton to what is hopefully the last shell to complete your entire collection.
