When it was announced during Nintendo’s recent Super Mario 35th Anniversary Direct,Super Mario 3D All-Starswas confirmed to be having a limited run. No reason was given by Nintendo, however they confirmed in the announcement video that the game would be available both physically and digitally until June 21, 2025.
While the scarcity levels of the physical edition started to become clear, with the game selling out on Amazon, we now have further evidence as to just how hard it will be to get a hold of. Posted onResetEraby user Geobros, then verified byEurogamer, UK retailer Base.com has cancelled all pre-orders forSuper Mario 3D All-Stars, citing a “woefully short” allocation as the reason.
The full email customers received can be seen below:
“We have just been notified of our allocation ofSuper Mario 3D All-stars(Nintendo Switch) and it is woefully short. This is very disappointing and it is with great regret that we have to inform you that we will be unable to fulfil you order on the day of release.Further, as Nintendo and their UK distributers are unable to give us any reassurance that more stock will become available after release, we have taken the regrettable decision to cancel all orders.”
It’s still incredibly bizarre that Nintendo has made, what would almost certainly be one of the most popular games in the Nintendo Switch’s history, so hard to get hold of.
Alongside3D All-Stars, Nintendo announced an assortment of new and returning Mario titles. These includedMario Kart Live: Home Circuit,Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Furyand a newGame & Watchin which players can play the originalSuper Mario Bros. It’s unclear whether these titles will be so heavily impacted by a lack of stock.
Super Mario 3D All-Starsis available in just a few days on September 18 for the Nintendo Switch.
