Since its release earlier this year,Starfield’s constant loading screens have been something of a hot topic. But as Starfield is now approaching 3 months old, we thought the debate around them had died down…until now.

Reddit userA1xo0has reignited the debate with a new post on the Starfield subreddit, asking fellow players if they think Starfield would be better with Destiny-esque loading screens. The question has caused a divide in the comment section, with some agreeing, some disagreeing, and some just outright saying that Starfield shouldn’t even have as many loading screens as it does.

Starfield Beta Update Fixes Weapon Crate Exploit, And Fans Aren’t Happy

Starfield players were hoping for game-breaking bugs to be fixed, but Bethesda has once again opted to fix a harmless exploit.

The post has managed to rake in almost 4,000 upvotes at the time of writing this article, proving that Starfield’s loading screens are still a hot topic within the community. You only need to take a short scroll through the comment section to see that players still feel just as strongly about the game’s loading screens today as they did the day it launched.

The idea put forward to the community was to make Starfield’s loading screens more immersive, somewhat like Destiny 2’s. The top comment in response to the idea also put forward an interesting proposition, saying, “How about a loading screen that takes your unique ship and the unique planet to generate a decent animation through an atmosphere.”

Others pointed out that, despite appearing constantly, Starfield’s loading screens aren’t actually that long. “Waaay too long, on Starfield it’s 3 seconds, I’ll take that any day.” Another user echoed the same sentiment, albeit in a more humorous manner, “Yeah maybe, but they barely last long enough for me to grab a chip and sling the salsa everywhere as I desperately shove it into my face and ruin my brand new controller.”

Starfield

Although Starfield doesn’t have animated or immersive loading screens, it does allow the player to display their in-game screenshots, something some users much prefer. “I like the loading screens being some of the screenshots I’ve taken.”

However, one thing many members of the community can agree on: Starfield shouldn’t have so many loading screens in the first place. Titles such as No Man’s Sky, which feature very similar concepts to Starfield, allow the player to transition from planet to planet almost seamlessly, a feature many were hoping for in Starfield.

It’s highly unlikely that this will ever be implemented, but it didn’t stop us from deeming Starfield as “an unforgettable space epic.” You can read our fullStarfield review righthere to find out more.
