Every mission you embark on will vary in difficulty but usually, each one, no matter how small,has a reward that makes it worth it. Credits add up fairly quickly, so the more missions you do, the more wealth you’ll receive.
Go over toNeon Corelocated in the Volii System on Volii Alpha for this quest. To obtain this quest, when you’rein Neon you will have to speak with James Newillat his shop and agree to help him with his problem.
Should You Speak With Rosa About Dietrich? (Optional)
Going in the opposite direction from Sieghart’s Outfitters,follow the other blue marker to Newill’s Goods, so you can speak with Rosa. She will sound a bit miserable when you initiate the conversation, and you can offer to help her. She is stressed due to the feud between her husband and Dietrich Sieghart. Her husband thinks there’s something else going on with Sieghart, especially due to him paying Neon Security.
When you ask why, she will say she assumes it’s for protection andmentions a “Safety Assurance Fee” schemethat has been circulating for particular businesses. While luckily their shop hasn’t had to endure this fee, she feels strongly about this fee being disgraceful.
While she doesn’t want you telling James, her husband, she does feel her husband is in the wrong in believing Dietrich is up to no good. She believes Dietrich is probably paying off security becausehe has no choice. However, she doesn’t feel what Dietrich himself is doing is wrong as he’s probably just doing what he has to survive.
With that being said, should you speak with Rosa about Dietrich? While you don’t have to speak with her, she will give you a lot of insight as to the type of person Sieghart is, which will help you make a well-rounded decision about him yourself. She will help you realize that he probably isa good man just trying to survivethe only way he feels he can.
After she thanks you for getting to the bottom of it, you can then head over to speak with Dietrich Sieghart himself. If the marker is still above Rosa and the mission hasn’t been updated, you might have tointeract with her againand ask her opinion on Dietrich. Doing this should update the mission. Make sure the mission is updated though, or else you might not get credit for speaking with Rosa.
Speak With Dietrich Sieghart
Head over toSieghart’s Outfitters located across from the Volii Hoteland Reliant Medical to speak with Dietrich. Sieghart’s Outfitters is just one of theshops you may purchase merchandisefrom. Upon entering his establishment, he should be somewhere around the counter, perhaps sweeping. You will be given multiple dialogue options when you interact with him.
You’ll learn that the reason he pays the fees to Dexler is that he’s scared he will lose his business. While he’s been in business for 20 years, he’s had his shop in Neon for 8 years and absolutely loves it there.He is just trying to protect his livelihood.He will tell you he feels the Merchant Alliance is a waste of time. If you tell him that others look up to him for leadership, and he should want to be a part of the alliance, he will be taken aback at first.
After saying he didn’t realize everyone felt that way about him, he will acknowledge that the otherbusinesses used to treat him with respectuntil he began paying for protection. After he reiterates that he could lose his business, you have the choice of either persuading him to stop the payments or telling him you’ll get back to him.
During the persuasion, if you bring up Rosa and her thoughts on him being a good man,that should automatically persuade him. After persuading him to stop paying the fee, he will then ask you to tell the Newills that he will come to the next meeting and perhaps bring refreshments.

Speak With James Newill
After speaking with Dietrich,go back over to Newill’s Goodsto speak with James. When you tell James that Dietrich agreed to stop making the payments, he’ll be surprised that all you had to do was speak to him about it. He will briefly reminisce with Rosa about her taking a chance on him back in the day. He will thank you and be grateful to you for helping them complete the Merchant Alliance.
James Newill will give you3800 credits and 100 XPfor convincing Dietrich which makes this a prettyfast way to earn credits. On top of that, you will also receive another 10 XP for actually persuading Dietrich.
