Starfieldplayers are bashingBethesda’s decision to make all of the game’s Temple puzzles identical, calling the repetitiveness of the quests “frustrating” and “stupid.”

For those who might not know, Starfield allows players to unlock special powers for your character. However, to do this, you need to locate different temples around the galaxy and complete the puzzle inside of them. Although, it’s not really much of a puzzle.

Starfield’s Latest Update Might Finally Make Me Give It Another Shot

400+ fixes and quality-of-life improvements? Maybe it’s time I revisit Bethesda’s latest RPG.

In total, there are 24 different powers for players to obtain. These range from Personal Atmosphere, which creates a small area of unlimited oxygen for a limited duration, to Grav Dash, which allows you to propel yourself forward by manipulating gravity. All of the powers are incredibly useful and it’s highly recommended that you unlock them all during your playthrough.

Unfortunately, the process of actually unlocking them is probably the most tedious thing in gaming.

Starfield’s Temple Puzzles Just Aint It

To start unlocking your Starfield powers, you first need to speak to an NPC known as Vlad. He’ll direct you to a new temple where you need to complete a somewhat confusing puzzle. Inside of the temple are some large spinning rings in the centre of the room. Surrounding the rings are constellations of stars. Some of these stars are brighter than others. To complete the puzzle, you simply need to float through the cluster of stars that are shining brighter than the others.

Players have mocked the puzzle in the past as there is absolutely no indication on how to complete it. But now players are bashing Bethesda for the repetitiveness of the puzzle.

Over on the Starfield subreddit, Reddit userbpd1515said, “In what Universe did Bethesda devs think the temple power collecting missions are fun?” They then went on to say, “Put 200 hours into Starfield so far, I love the game even with the annoyances present most ppl experience, or features ppl want. But the ONE thing that really frustrates me is the temple runs.”

The post has garnered over 1,100 upvotes at the time of writing, with many members of the community in agreeance. Even those who would defend Starfield to the heavens and back believe the temple puzzles are “stupid.”

Starfield

“Yeah as a fan of the game that was stupid. Really want to hear like developer comments on why they thought it was fun?” Reddit userGullible-Fault-3818said.

Others went with a more sarcastic approach, asEasy_Garden338said, “What do you mean OP? Its so much fun to find the exact same temple copy pasted for the 15th time every unity run and then chasing the same light switch over and over again for some power which you probably won’t ever use.”

Bethesda

While Starfield certainly has its faults, this has to be one of the biggest and, honestly, just comes across as lazy by Bethesda. Don’t get me wrong, Starfield is a gigantic game that took years of hard work, but why include the same temple puzzle 24 times? If you can even call it a puzzle.
