Exploring Ginger Island and struggling to find enough Golden Walnuts? The Mermaid’s got 5 if you play her song right.

Pelican Town

The little river running through Pelican Town also offers a variety of freshwater fish. All of these fish can also be caught in other locations, too.

With how frequently I need to visit town while playingStardew Valley, dropping a line while picking up seeds from Pierre or buying a new upgrade from Clint is pretty easy. Doing so saves time in a day by avoiding multiple trips off the farm.

Ginger Island

This tropical paradise offers a variety of familiar fishy friends alongside three new tropical catches:Blue Discus, Lionfish, and theStingray.Unlike locations in the valley, on Ginger Island it’s always the same “season.”

Unlike other fish, those caught in aCrab Potdon’t care about specific locations. All that matters is whether the pot was placed in saltwater or freshwater.

Oceans at the Beach and Ginger Island are saltwater, and just about everything else is freshwater. The only exceptions are underground (like the Mines or the Sewers).

Fish In Secret Hideouts

Exploring the tertiary locations inStardew Valleyadds a lot to the game’s variety. Tracking down unusual fish is no exception!

Most fish in these locations don’t care about the season, time, or even the weather. No need to plan ahead—just track them down whenever you have a spare day.

The original Mines havefishing spots on levels 20, 60, and 100.You’ll need to catch at least one Ghostfish to complete the Community Center.

Good luck with the Lava Eel—this fiery fellow is nearly as difficult as a legendary fish. I find this fish easier after chowing down on Seafoam Pudding orDish O' The Sea.

Calico Desert

The little pool just south of Skull Cavern has two unique fish: theSandfishand theScorpion Carp.Like the Lava Eel, the latter is nearly as tough as the legendary fish—there’s no shame in munching through some buff items while trying to catch it.

The Sewers

To enter the Sewers, you’ll need to first get theRusty Key. Keep donating Artifacts toGunther’s museum, andonce you’ve contributed 60 itemshe’ll fork it over.

What you may catch in the Sewers never changes due to the season, time, or weather. Fishing here you’ll findCarp,Green Algae, orWhite Algae.

Terribly exciting.

Mutant Bug Lair

You can reach the Mutant Bug Lair through adoor on the western side of the Sewers. However, the door’s blocked by a forcefield.

This forcefield was put up byKrobus,, the shadowy merchant who lives in the Sewers. During theWizard’sDark Talisman quest, he’ll let down the forcefield so you can explore this small area.

The only fish youreallyneed here is the uniqueSlimejack, although it’s also a good place to harvestFiber.

Witch’s Swamp

After retrieving the Dark Talisman, that same quest leads you to the Witch’s Swamp. Here you may fish up another unique fish for your collection: theVoid Salmon.
