Of these characters, Shane is one of the twelve that you can form a romantic relationship with. While he seems incredibly standoffish at first, spending time and effort on him will change his attitude significantly.

Who Is Shane?

Shaneis one of thetwelve eligible charactersfordating in Stardew Valley. He is often rude and passive towards your character at the beginning of your relationship, but he begins to open up more as you befriend him.

He lives atMarnie’s Ranch with his Aunt Marnie and his goddaughter, Jas.He works atJojaMartand is often hard to talk to — especially when he is at work. He is also really afan of chickens, and he would love to have a chicken farm in the future.

How To Start Your Relationship With Shane

To start building your relationship with Shane, you will want totalk to him every day and give him two gifts a week.This will slowly build up his hearts. You will then want tocomplete each Heart Eventas you reach them.

To grow your relationship more quickly, you’ll want to verify togive him gifts that he loves or likes.You’ll want toavoid anything that he really hates, which can decrease your hearts.His birthday is Spring 20,so you will want to remember to give him an extra gift on that day — this will have an increased effect on hearts.

Best Gifts For Shane

In order to positively increase your relationship with Shane, it is recommended that yougive him 2 gifts every week.You’ll want to ensure these gifts are one of his favorites, though — otherwise, this could have a negative effect on your relationship.

Shane’s Heart Events

to further your relationship with Shane, you will need totrigger his Heart Events.These are scenes that you will participate in with Shane, with some having an outcome that willaffect your relationship.These events will be unlocked when you reach acertain amount of hearts with Shane, with 10 events in total.

Shane’s Two Hearts Event

To trigger this event,head to the Cindersap Forest anytime from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.This scene will consist of Shane sharing a beer with the player and talking about life in general. The event will end when Shane decides to quit drinking for the night.

Shane’s Three Hearts Event

You won’t have to go anywhere to begin this event.Instead, Shane will send you the Pepper Poppers recipe in the mail once you reach 3 hearts with him.

Shane’s Four Hearts Event

Head to Marnie’s Ranch at any time of the day.You and Marnie will find Shane passed out on his bedroom floor after drinking. Jas will walk in and overhear the conversation, eventually running out of the room after hearing what Shane says.

Shane’s Six Hearts Event

Head to Cindesap Forest anytime from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on a rainy or stormy day to trigger this event.You’ll again find Shane passed out on the ground from drinking, and he will ask you something that you will need to respond to. Your choices will be:

The decision is your own. Just know that I’m here for you.

After this conversation, you’ll take Shane to the hospital. The next day,Shane will come to apologizeat your house. You can respond in3 different ways:

Shane’s Seven Hearts Part 1 Event

You can trigger this event by going to Marnie’s Ranch anytime while Shane is home after the Six Hearts Event.Shane and Marnie will talk about Shane’s attitude and how he seems to be in a better mood. He will also give Jas a present.

Shane’s Seven Hearts Part 2 Event

Shane’s Seven Hearts Part 3 Event

Again,you will not have to go anywhere to trigger this event.Shane will send you a recipe in the mail for Strange Buns.

Shane’s Eight Hearts Event

You will want tohead to Marnie’s Ranch at any time when Shane is at home.You’ll find Shane in the barn painting a sign that says ‘Fresh Eggs’, and talking with his chickens. When you arrive, he will introduce you to his special blue chickens.

Shane’s Ten Hearts Event

To trigger this event, you will want to leave your house before 6:30 a.m., where Shane will ask you to meet him at the Bus Stop around 5 p.m.to see the Tunnelers game. you’re able to go there anytime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. He will then ask you what you think about gridball, to which you can respond:

Noisy… It makes me appreciate how peaceful it is back home.

Fun… Pelican Town seems really boring in comparison.

Shane’s Fourteen Hearts Part 1 Event

You will want tohead to town anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on any day except Friday.You’ll see Shane coming out of The Stardrop Saloon, to which you, Jas, and Marnie will be worried about him.

you may only trigger the Fourteen Hearts Event if you are already married to Shane.

Shane’s Fourteen Hearts Part 2 Event

To trigger the next part, you can head to town at any time the next day.You’ll see Shane come out of The Stardrop Saloon again, to which you will be worried and Shane will become offended and leave.

Shane’s Fourteen Hearts Part 3 Event

To trigger the last part, head to town at anytime the following day.You and Marnie will be waiting outside The Stardrop Saloon, and you’ll both head inside after you see Shane go in. You’ll find him playing an arcade game, to which he will say that he told you he wasn’t drinking. You can respond by saying:

We were worried…

I’m sorry, I should’ve believed you.

He will be understanding of you and Marnie worrying about him, and he will continue to play his game.This will be the last Heart Event for Shane.

How To Propose To Shane

to propose and get married to Shane, you will need to meet a few criteria and prepare some things beforehand. First, when you reach 10 hearts, you willreceive a letter from Mayor Lewissaying you will have tofind the Mermaid’s Pendant in order to propose to someone.You can find this item by heading to the tidal pools on the beach.

You can only get here byrepairing the bridge that requires 300 wood.You’ll find theOld Marinerhere, who willsell it to you for 5,000 g.You will also need tomake sure that you have upgraded your house at least oncein order to propose. When you receive the Mermaid’s Pendant, present it to Shane, and he will accept.
