Stardew Valley: 10 Ways To Make A Second Playthrough Different

For anyone looking for another reason to play Stardew Valley again, look no further. This list has everything you need.

Rarecrows function the same as your regular scarecrow (in that, they have a similar radius of effect), but of course, they certainly look a little more snazzy. And as we all know, aesthetics are more important than functionality.

Stardew Valley Rarecrow 1

This guide will cover how you’re able to obtain each type of Rarecrow and the special reward you obtain when you collect all 8.

This guide will cover the official number of the rarecrows rather than the order in which you obtain them.

Stardew Valley Rarecrow 2

Rarecrow #1

Any keen-eyed Studio Ghibli fans may notice this reference. This rarecrow can be found in theStardew Valley Fair, which takes place onTuesday the 16thof every fall.

Check in at the shop to see a variety of rewards, including this rarecrow and even a Stardrop. Of course, you’ll have to earn them. To get your points quickly, first of all, complete the Grange Display for 1000.But don’t spend them yet.

Next, go to the Spinning wheel. It’s time for some gambling. You don’t have to use this method, but it is without a doubt the quickest and easiest.Simply bet half of what you have on green every single time. For some reason, green is way more likely to win than orange.

Even if it lands on orange the first time, keep betting half of what you have on green. As long as you’re not extremely unlucky, you’ll be swimming in points in a few minutes. I’ve tried this multiple times, and it has always worked.Luck is a factor in this, too, if you fancy stacking the odds in your favour.

Speaking with Mr. Qi in the Casino in Stardew Valley.

Rarecrow #2

The second rarecrow is far easier to obtain. Simply go to theSpirit’s Eve festival on the 27th of Falland purchase it at the shop for 5000g.

While you may want to conserve your money at this point in the game, a small-term investment now will save you from waiting another year to get the chance again.

If you’re struggling with money, don’t forget to grab the golden pumpkin in the centre of the maze. You can sell this for 2500g,which already pays for half of the rarecrow.

Rarecrow #3

This extraterrestrial specimen is by far the most tedious to collect, but with the right preparation, you’ll have it in no time. This reward can only be obtained from theCasino in the Calico desert.

Firstly, you’re going to need to have the bus repaired, and then complete “The Mysterious Qi” secret quest that can be found by placing a battery in the box in the tunnel. I won’t go through the whole process of the quest, but it involves you delivering a lot of items to specific places.

Once you reach the final step, you’ll be given aClub Cardwhich allows you access to the Casino.

Stardew Valley: How To Unlock The Casino

Itching to play some CalicoJack? Head on down to Stardew Valley’s Casino!

Before you even bother with the casino, wait until a day when you have the maximum luck possible: “The spirits are very happy today! They will do their best to shower everyone with good fortune.”

Instead of using gold, the Casinohas its own special purple Qi Coins. You can, of course, buy this currency in cash with a ratio of1 Qi coin to 10g, but as the Rarecrow costs 10,000 Qi Coins, you’re going to be forking out 100,000g just for a rarecrow, which really isn’t worth it.

It’s best to do this when you already have the special luck charm, after completing secret note 20in the Winter. Then, wait for agood luck day, and bring a luck buff, like aLucky Lunchor even aMagic Rock Candyif you have one spare, and consume it before entering the casino. Buy a few Qi Coins first, and then start playing theSlot Machines.

While most casinos in the real world favor the house, oddly enough, this casino favors the player. With max luck, you’ll pretty much always profit by putting in 100 Qi Coins at a time.

Just keep grinding it out bit by bit until you have the 10,000 you need. You may even get super lucky and win the jackpot. Then you get to spend all your well-earned coins on great rewards like Farm Warp Totems and Hardwood Fences! Or decorate your house in style.

Rarecrow #4

Phew, that was a long one. The rest of the rarecrows will be a bit easier in comparison. This snowman rarecrow can be found in two different ways. The easiest is by attending theFestival of Iceon the8th of Winterand then buying it from the shop for 5000g.

Now, if you manage to miss the festival or forget it for some reason, you can actually grab this from thetraveling merchant during Fall and Winter for 4000g. It may not always appear, but make sure to check first thing on aFridayor aSundayto save yourself the hassle of waiting until next year.

Rarecrow #5

This is probably the first rarecrow that you’re going to come across on your Stardew Valley playthrough. On the24th of Spring, you’ll be made aware of theFlower Dancefestival. Make sure you don’t miss this one.

Stardew Valley: Every Festival Ranked

Stardew’s festivals vary in quality, so let’s rank them all.

Along with a bunch of cute-looking flower decorations, you’re able to find the rarecrow here for a measly2500g. While this might seem like a decent amount of cash if it’s your first playthrough, don’t wait until next Spring, just put some money aside andpick it up ASAP.

In any case, it’ll be working for you, scaring away crows for the whole year until you complete your collection.

Rarecrow #6

The next rarecrow is a little trickier, relying quite a bit on luck. Of course, you’ll probably earn this simply by playing through the game, similar to numbers 7 and 8.

This can only be bought from the Dwarf, who you’ll find in the passageway to the right of the entrance to the mine. Once you’ve blown up the rock blocking the path, next you’ll need to find all4 Dwarf Scrollsin order to understand him (you can still give him gifts even before you’ve found all the scrolls).

These scrolls can all be found in the mines.

Once you donate all 4 scrolls to the museum, you’ll be given theDwarfish Translation guide, and can subsequently purchase this rarecrow from the Dwarf for2500g.

Rarecrow #7

These next two rarecrows are linked and, as I previously mentioned, you’ll get these simply by playing the game and progressing through the mines.

Number 7 is a reward from the museumafter you have donated exactly 20 Artifacts. Remember this means specifically artifacts like theDwarf ScrollsorArrowheads, etc., not minerals like precious gems.

The best way to get your hands on a bunch of artifacts is just by cracking open geodes, tilling artifact spots, or by purchasing Artifact Troves from the Desert Trader.

Rarecrow #8

This rarecrow can be obtained similarly, though there’s a slight difference. You’ll get this as a reward from the museum, butonly after donating 40 items. This can include both minerals and Artifacts, simply anything that can be given to Gunther and displayed.

Due to the fact that minerals are far easier to obtain than artifacts, chances are you’ll obtain this before number 7.

Regarding both of these rarecrows, once you have them, you may purchase duplicate copies from theNight Marketif you so wish.

Deluxe Scarecrow

The day after you complete your rarecrow collection, you will receive a letter during the night. This letter will give you the recipe to craft aDeluxe Scarecrow, which has double the radius of a normal Scarecrow, meaning they won’t take as much room on your farm. And it looks pretty cool too. Which is nice.

Naturally, these Deluxe Variants are a little more pricey than the normal Scarecrow, requiring the valuable iridiumbut they are well worth it. You will just need:

By the time you receive this recipe, you should have a bunch of iridium from opening geodes orfrom your trips to Skull Cavern.

Rarecrow Gathering Order

While each rarecrow may have its own official number, chances are you won’t be collecting them in that same order.

Here I will lay out one of the more likely sequences in which you’ll complete your collection. Yours may be different. This is simply an approximation.

Rarecrow Type

Rarecrow 5

From the Flower Dance in your first Spring.

Rarecrow 8

If you enjoy the mines as much as I do, you’ll get this very quickly.

Rarecrow 1

Purchase during your first Fall at the Town Fair

Rarecrow 2

Purchase at the Spirit’s Eve Festival

Rarecrow 4

Purchase at the Festival of Ice

Rarecrow 7

Winter is a great time to do a lot of work in the mines and dig up artifact spots, which are more common.

Rarecrow 6

While you’re in the mines, you’re able to search for the Dwarf Scrolls.

Rarecrow 3

Get the Luck charm first, and then head to the Casino.

If you follow this order, there’s a pretty big chance that you’ll complete your collection and unlock the deluxe Scarecrow before you finish your first year. You can go into your second Spring with a whole army of Deluxe Scarecrows, ready to defend your crops until their dying breaths.
