Following a somewhat rocky and bug-filled launch,STALKER 2is trying to get itself back on track in 2025. The next patch, version 1.5, is expected to drop this month with a series of fixes and adjustments as well as some new content.
Speaking to fans via the official Discord channel, developers GSC Game World confirmed thatthe update will release in the second half of June.

The update is also set to introduce two new weapons, the ability to loot mutants, and several A-Life improvements. A-Life, the game’s internal system for the way AI lives and interacts with each other, wasone of the main flaws of the game’s initial release, with many players thinking the system was even absent from the game altogether.

TheQ2 Roadmappublished by the developers also mentions the ability to skip shader compilation, increased stash window and new widescreen support. However, one of the biggest items on the list is also theSTALKER Original Trilogy Next-Gen Update.
Many players,commenting on the news via Reddit, had mixed reactions.Most players appear to be complaining about the ‘tankiness’ of mutantsand their inability to defeat them, but as yet no specific mutant nerfs have been mentioned by the developers.
As old school players will know, STALKER is meant to be difficult,especially when facing mutants. Personally, I don’t see much advantage to being able to loot mutants—the reward is survival, not trinkets and memorobilia. Nonetheless, I look forward to the new update and seeing the various ways in which the game is improved.
STALKER 2 was one of my favorite games in recent memory, and I am doubly excited to jump back into the original trilogy too.
Either way, it certainly seems like good news that GSC Game World iscontinuing to support and improve STALKER 2, even if it still hasn’t quite managed to deliver on everything it initially promised.
