Split Fiction’sTrain Heist side storyisn’t satisfied with pitting the players against your typical steam-powered locomotive. Instead, they’re tasked with going after a futuristic cyber-train in a spy-style thriller.

The Train Heist segment is broken into several chase sequences that culminate in a unique boss battle which evokes some incredibly popular retro shooters. It’s also one of the shorter side stories in the game, so it won’t vex players for too long.

Split Fiction Train Heist Flying Zoe Mio

Chase Sequence

The stage starts off with a bang, as both characters are in free-fall with gliders. This means players will need to keep diving and rising under barriers in order to maintain momentum.

When the ship bursts out the wall, dodge the red mines it drops behind it and follow the path. Fly into the blue tunnel after the red one suddenly closes. Carefully dodge between/below the two tracks as trains come at you.

Split Fiction Train Heist Skies Zoe Mio

This section is very generous with checkpoints. If one player struggles with the flying, don’t worry about it. One skilled player can get both Mio and Zoe through.

You’ll eventually emerge from the tunnel. Keep dodging the mines as you dive toward the train, waiting for the grappling icon to appear. This won’t drag you onto the train as you might expect, and instead conjures a pair of water skis that will drag you along.

Split Fiction Train Heist The Conductor Fight

During this section, you can dodge left to right and jump out of the water. Dodge the bullets and jump over the mines that land in the water while also avoiding the yellow poles. Large metal cylinders will also be dropped, but you can use these as ramps for some extra style points.

The train will go through a tunnel, and you’ll be back in the air once again. From here, you’re able to drop and grapple onto the train. However, the carriages will start spinning, so you’ll initially need to run the opposite way to keep from falling.

Split Fiction Train Heist The Conductor Boss Fight

After this, keep running ahead, matching the pace of the spinning carts, dodging missiles, and grappling to the next part of the train. If you see a red circle, dash instantly, as a missile is about to hit that spot.

At the end of the train are two personal spaceships waiting for you. Once each person has grabbed one, the boss battle will begin.

The Conductor — Boss Battle

That’s right: Split Fiction turns into a 2D shooter like theR-Typeseries!

In this section, both players must destroy The Conductor. They can move anywhere around the screen and will have a Dash ability at their disposal as well. Both characters also have a shield with a matching color (purple for Mio, green for Zoe) which can tank a few hits from The Conductor.

You cannot Dash through The Conductor’s bullets. The move is used for covering ground quicker, not for utilizing i-frames.

Several power-ups you may fly into and collect will appear at the top of the screen throughout the battle with the following effects:

The boss utilizes different phases throughout the battle.

Once The Conductor is defeated, the final phase is complete, as is one of thebest side stories in the game.

Congratulations, you’ve finished the Train Heist in Split Fiction! What was the heist for? Who knows?
