One of the most famous adaptations of this lore is theAstartesproject, a fan-made YouTube project by Syama Pedersen that charmed many people into becoming fans of this franchise. However, some recent comments by fans have brought some upsetting news to everyone’s attention about this beloved project.
Space Marine 2 Will Probably Never Include the Retributors
The Retributors are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter that was the star of Pedersen’s cinematic. With the release ofa newSpace Marinegamecoming up, people were hoping to include some nods to his project. Perhaps, by allowing people to cosplay as the faction.
The responses aren’t what any fan would want to hear though. For context, the fan-made video went extremely viral, to the point where Games Workshop (the creators of the franchise) hired Pedersen.

It then took the video down from YouTube and put it on Warhammer+, the streaming service.
Games Workshop promised a sequel to the cinematic, and people have been waiting a long time. It’s been years since then, and there’s been no news. Pedersen is seemingly working on other projects and is heading his own studio, according to his LinkedIn. So what happened to theAstartessequel?
Games Workshop Might’ve Axed the Project Completely
A few theories are floating around about the eventual fate of Pedersen’s project, and none of them are good. One of them directly connects to the reason why Retributors might never be included in the upcomingSpace Marinegame.
It’s possible that Games Workshop chose to focus on other projects, leaving the project on the backburner. Or, they’ve decided to move in a different direction altogether.
If Saber Interactive was to include Retributors in the game, it would’ve brought attention to their existence.

People would then start talking aboutAstertesagain, and so on. To avoid this PR disaster, people think that the Retributors will never be added to the game.
It especially stings seeing as how so many people were looking forward to the Loyalist Space Marine Chapter being included in the game.
Pedersen’s animation did an amazing job of highlighting this faction and giving them the attention they deserve. There is so much lore to explore, andmany aspects that are intriguing, like this origin story.
It’s intimidating to blindly dive into the franchise, but fans like Pedersen who help introduce fans to these concepts and ease them into this rich universe.
