The PlayStation Stars experiment iscoming to an end. According to the officialPlayStationwebsite, Sony has decided to sunset the program, gradually phasing it out until the end of 2026.
The End Is Nigh For PlayStation Stars
As of August 23, 2025, it will be impossible for new peopleto join PlayStation Stars. Those who cancel their membership cannot rejoin and will lose all their points. Anyone who stays with the program can still earn and redeem points until July 23. Then, on June 07, 2025, the PlayStation Stars program will fully cease to be, though people will retain their Digital Collectibles.
Sony mentioned that it’s investigating ideas for future loyalty programs, but nothing is set in stone. Much like with thedeath of Nintendo Gold Points, Sony might just decide that the loyalty programs add nothing of value.
PlayStation Stars was a strange idea from the start, one that rubbed some people the wrong way, as the Digital Collectibles were alittle too close to NFTsfor comfort. Now that the program has ended, it will be seen as a bizarre curio in PlayStation history, one that most fans are unlikely to miss.
