Social Media Prankster Booted From The BAFTAs For InterruptingOppenheimer’sBest Film Speech
BAFTA strongly responded after a man, identified as a social media prankster byVariety, crashed the final category at the film awards on Sunday night. The individual joined theOppenheimerteam on stage during the award presentation. A BAFTA spokesperson confirmed the incident and made it clear the prankster was scored out immediately.
“A social media prankster was removed by security last night after joining the winners of the final award on stage — we are taking this very seriously, and don’t wish to grant him any publicity by commenting further.”

TheOppenheimerteam, seated together on the right of the stage, walked up to collect the BAFTA award. The prankster in a black suit emerged from the opposite side of the audience and joined them on stage while Emma Thomas gave her acceptance speech.
The audience seemed unaware that he wasn’t part of the team. The confusion arose as he coincidentally appeared when Thomas was urging the rest of the cast to join them. Despite the team staying in the audience, the prankster walked off stage with them after Thomas finished her speech.

BAFTA indicated that he was then apprehended by security. The man is suspected to have disrupted awards ceremonies in the U.K. and abroad, sharing the incidents on his social media pages. Regardless, we hope such incidents never happen again.
