Today has been quite and eventful day for fans of theSniper Eliteseries thanks to a “Sniper Elite Development Update” video released by Rebellion, the independent developer and publisher behind the series. While the bulk of the short video was focused onSniper Elite V2 RemasteredandSniper Elite 3 Ultimate Editionfor Nintendo Switch, Rebellion Co-Founder Jason Kingsley bookended the video by revealing that aSniper EliteVR game and a new mainlineSniper Elitetitle are in development.

Even though Rebellion went into great detail aboutSniper Elite V2 RemasteredandSniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition, information on these two new titles is still fairly scarce. The upcomingSniper EliteVR game was described as both “new” and “standalone,” so players shouldn’t be expecting a rehash or optional mode tied to a previousSniper Elitetitle. This still untitled VR game is being developed by Just Add Water, the British studio that was behindOddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty!.

Rebellion and Just Add Water are aiming to discuss this VR game in greater detail later in 2019. That being said, we will have to wait longer to hear about the next mainlineSniper Elitetitle. Even though Rebellion isn’t set on labeling this titleSniper Elite 5yet, they are willing to call it the “next major title” and a game that is “following in the footsteps of the widely acclaimedSniper Elite 4.” Unlike the VR game, this main title is being actively worked on by Rebellion themselves and more is set to be shared about it in 2020.
