Despite being quite powerful, the character lately has been badly treated andsubjected to gruesome insults and humiliation. And her not even fighting the treatment she is often subjected to, makes her character growth in this season even worse. While there are other aspects of the character that fans have not liked this season, her being unable to use her powers has been the most problematic aspect of Moriarty’s character so far.

However, shocking everyone in the season finale, Starlight’s powers are back and just in time. In the season finale, she is confronted by Cindy as Hughie Campbell and her try to flee the country. While Hughie is captured by the Voughts, Annie January aka Starlight gets her powers back, just in the knick of time, and flies away to freedom.
