The future ofMagazine Dreams, a drama starring Jonathan Majors and fitness legend Mike O’Hearn, remains uncertain after Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault. The film, which received positive reviews for its premiere on 28 July 2025, was initially scheduled for distribution on June 05, 2025 by Disney’s Searchlight Pictures.

Nevertheless, in the wake of Majors’ being found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment charges, the studio pulled the film from its schedule. This has led to him being dropped from several upcoming projects, including his planned role as Kang the Conqueror in future MCU films. Majors portrayed Kang in the two-season Disney+ seriesLokiand the MCU movieAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Fans Divided onMagazine DreamsRelease After Jonathan Majors’ Verdict

With Jonathan Majors’ recent conviction for misdemeanor assault, the future of the drama about an aspiring bodybuilder,Magazine Dreams, is still up in the air. According toX,while some moviegoers want Disney, the company that acquired the film, to completely cancel it, others think Majors should be in the movie regardless of its distribution.

Supporters of the film’s release argue that it’s a powerful and timely story that deserves to be seen. They cite the movie’s favorable reviews from its Sundance Film Festival premiere earlier this year, as well as the cast’s outstanding performances, which also feature Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, and Mike O’Hearn. Many, meanwhile, think that makingMagazine Dreamsavailable would be a mistake.

They contend that doing so would be supporting Majors’ actions and giving him money for a movie he produced while being accused of grave crimes. Others draw attention to the possibility that Majors’ conviction will overwhelm the movie itself and make it impossible for viewers to concentrate on the narrative. Disney is probably balancing the financial risks of the movie’s release against the possibility of negative reviews and fan anger.

I hope the decision is to be made on Christmas Day, perhaps? I think Magazine Dreams should be dropped from its release schedule.

Put it away

Release it and keep him as kang. I’m tired of Hollywood acting like they perfect. Nearly every actor has been to jail or committed crimes.

In the end, there are no simple answers when deciding whether or not to distribute the film. It’s a complicated matter with compelling arguments on both sides, andMagazine Dreams‘ future is at stake. It’s unclear if Disney will eventually release the movie or put it on hold.

In December 2023, a New York jury foundJonathan Majors, the acclaimed actor guilty of harassment charges and misdemeanor assault. These accusations were related to a domestic abuse incident that happened in March of that year with his then-girlfriend. In her testimony, his ex-partner described the events and said that there had been a history of verbal and emotional abuse that led up to the bodily fight.

Prosecutors presented evidence showcasing an altercation during a car ride. They claimed Majors snatched his girlfriend’s phone, hurt her physically, and acted in a dominating and aggressive manner. The evidence that was shown to the jury influenced their decision even though Majors refuted the purposeful components of the charges.

However, he was acquitted of more serious charges, including aggravated harassment. Majors’ career was significantly impacted by this decision. He was immediately dropped by Marvel Studios, who also canceled his contract to play Kang the Conqueror in upcoming MCU films.
