The legal document from Baldoni’s attorney also mentions that Lively has no right to dictate who should take her deposition. Fans accuse her of trying to take control of the legal battle even in areas that aren’t hers. Meanwhile, the court will decide on Lively’s demand and Baldoni’s counter-appeal.

In the letter, Baldoni’s attorneys mention thatLively has allegedly demanded the removal of their lead counselBryan J. Freedman from her deposition. The letter shared that Lively and Reynolds claimed that Freedman made some unspecified statements, causing them to file the motion. The legal letter from Baldoni’s attorney read (via @legalbytesmedia/X):

Counsel for Ms. Lively and Ryan Reynolds stated their objection to the Wayfarer Parties’ lead counsel conducting the deposition of Blake Lively. Specifically, the Lively Parties’ counsel indicated that they object to Bryan J. Freedman, personally, taking Ms. Lively’s deposition, based upon unspecified statements made by Mr. Freedman.

Baldoni’s team further shared that they were unaware of any situation that would warrant such a move from Lively. They pointed out that the actress has no right to dictate who may or may not take their deposition from the opposing side. The letter read:

We are unaware of any situation that would warrant the deposed party to have a choice in which attorney takes her deposition. Parties to litigation simply do not have the right to dictate which of their opponents’ attorneys may or may not take their deposition or perform any other aspect of the opposing party’s case.

Fans found it a laughable move from Lively as she allegedly showed that she was afraid of Freedman. They shared that it was“another score for Team Baldoni in the PR battle.”Another fan shared that the new motion from Lively’s team also illustrated how she operated. They claimed that she tried to“dictate”something that was outside of her control. Fan reactions read:

I’m sorry, but this letter from Justin Baldoni’s legal team to the court about Blake Lively’s attempt to refuse to be deposed by Bryan Freedman has me chuckling. They are, of course, correct. As the witness, you don’t get to choose which attorney deposes you. And, Blake, now…pic.twitter.com/m3M8xbgJbT

Also, you KNOW they know these will be picked apart on social media, and this line in particular feels very intentional: “Parties to litigation simply do not have the right to dictate which of their opponent’s attorneys may or may not take their deposition or perform any other…

If it’s true, it IS an excellent illustration of how she operates; how she tries to dictate and take over in areas that aren’t hers.

Thank you so much for addressing this. I have NO knowledge of the law, but was like, wait, what? I don’t think she gets to choose who deposes her. Imagine if Amber had been like, no, I don’t want Camille to ask me questions

I had a theory that no one properly educated her on the legal process and the uncomfortable things involved for P&D side.I think she was led to believe her direct involvement would be minimal and it was a slam dunk case which Baldoni would make quietly go away.

Lively’s complaint has done some damage to Baldoni’s career as well. He and his studio were both dropped by WME, the talent agency. While Baldoni has strong support from a section of fans, it is still a huge task for him to fight Lively and Reynolds, given their influence in the industry.

Blake Lively accused Justin Baldoni of trying to ruin her reputation with a smear campaign (via PEOPLE). According to Lively’s complaint, the retaliatory smear campaign came after she expressed concerns about Baldoni’s behavior. She claimed that Baldoni s*xually harassed her and created a hostile working environment.

She accused Baldoni of improvising intimate scenes that were not in the script. She also claimed that he showed images of nde women to Lively, discussed his personal sx life, and talked to her trainer about her weight loss without consent.

In response, Baldoni first filed a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times after they released text messages and alleged that he orchestrated a smear campaign (via Forbes). He accused her of beingthe difficult one to work with. Later, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane.

The lawsuit claims civil extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy, and intentional interference with contractual relations. He shared that Lively constantly attempted to interfere in the creative process and threw tantrums on set. He shared thatReynolds“launched into an aggressive tirade”during a meeting.

Lively’s side claimed that Baldoni was trying to trivialize her allegations by blaming the victim. They responded to the new $400 million lawsuit, sharing,“This latest lawsuit from Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and its associates is another chapter in the abuser playbook”(via People).

THRreported that at least three projects involving Baldoni would probably move into development hell due to his legal battle. A source stated that Baldoni“lost three jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars.”The projects also include Baldoni’s earlier announced live-actionPac-Manmovie.
