Horror games have delivered in full force in the last few years, and with a new console generation on the way, the potential for even more grotesque horror games is upon us. Thankfully, the upcoming horror gameScornseems to be among the horror games that we can expect with the next-gen consoles, with a new trailer giving a dark look at the title.
During today’s Inside Xbox presentation, developer Ebb Software revealed a new trailer for its upcoming titleScorn. Though the trailer itself doesn’t feature any direct gameplay footage, the cinematic trailerhighlights the tone and atmosphere of the horror gamethrough some creepy cinematic visuals. What’s most apparent is that the game definitely seems to have some inspiration from theAlienfranchise and the work of H.R. Giger, the Swiss painter and artist who had a huge influence on the films and designed its iconic Xenomorph.
Scornhas been in development for a few years now, though the new trailer gives us our most recent look at the game yet. According to what we know about the game so far, it is a first-person horror game that is “designed around the idea of being thrown into the world.” Exploration and puzzle-solving will seem to be crucial components of the experience, as players will discover the “dream-like world in a non-linear fashion.” In addition,Scornwill have players learn that “every location has its own story, puzzles, and characters – even the unsettling environment is a character itself.”
While there isn’t a confirmed release window or date for the game just yet, the unsettling new trailer forScornshould at least give us a taste of what’s in store for the game when it does arrive. At the very least, it does make me want to go and rewatch all theAlienmovies again.
Scornis currently in development for Xbox Series X and PC.
