This is going to be an exciting one because the upcomingDeadpool 3flick promises a feast of fandom greatness. How? Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman seem to be paying homage to Tobey Maguire’sSpider-Manin the highly anticipated Deadpool vs. Wolverine fight scene.

The nostalgic nod to our beloved web-slinger is not only a treat for eagle-eyed viewers, but also a masterstroke of intertextual brilliance that unites strands from our favorite superhero universes.Marvel’s squabbling pair is back at it: The trailer forDeadpool & Wolverinewas just released, and it features Jackman’s Wolverine and Reynolds’ Deadpool acting out their respective roles.

Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman’s Ode to Tobey Maguire’sSpider-Man

Having said that, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were pleasantly surprised when theDeadpool 3trailerrevealed ahighly anticipated fightscene between the Merc with a Mouth and Wolverine. But what grabbed the attention of eagle-eyed viewers was the subtle nod to Maguire’s portrayal of Spider-Man.
Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, andHugh Jackman, who returns as Wolverine, engage in a brutal and intense fight scene in the trailer. Amidst the punches and kicks, however, Reynolds’ Deadpool playfully alludes to Maguire’s classic Spider-Man fight scene in the school canteen. A fight scene between Maguire’s Peter Parker and Thompson (Joe Manganiello) following a spider bite is reminiscent of Deadpool dodging a blow from Wolverine.

Well, his subtle homage to Maguire’s Spider-Man didn’t go unnoticed by fans, who took to X to share their excitement and appreciation for the nod to the much-loved superhero.
