Genshin Impactdeveloper miHoYo might be working on an anime adaptation of its free-to-play game.

On January 29, threeGenshin Impactscreenshots were leaked, one of which revealed upcoming playable character Kamisato Ayato for the first time ever. The leakers back thenclaimedthat we’ll know what these screenshots truly are with the Version 2.5 live stream, with many fans believing the screenshots are actually from aGenshin Impactshort anime.

Genshin Impactversion 2.5 live stream might reveal a new anime project

If you take a look at the leaked screenshots, you’ll notice the art style and screenplay is much closer to anime productions than in any otherGenshin Impactin-game cutscene so far. Furthermore, the three screenshots show three completely different scenes. They’re pretty much disjointed, hinting at a short anime featuring a succession of key scenes. Besides a short anime, another rumored possibility is an anime ad promoting the game.

Another hint comes from the fact that on February 3, the Crunchyroll Twitter account has shared the official announcement for theGenshin ImpactVersion 2.5 live stream. And theGenshin Impactofficial manga, launched several months before the game was first announced, is available to read on Crunchyroll. If aGenshinanime is announced, it’s very likely Crunchyroll will simulcast it.

Another leaker,UBatcha, also hinted that the leaked screenshots come from something different than the usual in-game story cutscenes.

Furthermore, miHoYo has already made several short anime adaptations for its flagship gameHonkai Impact 3rd. Adapting iconic fights and spoilerific story moments of the game. At the end of the day, seeingGenshin Impact’s worldwide success, miHoYo’s history, inspirations, and the slogan “tech otakus save the world”, it’s inevitable aGenshin Impactanime adaptation will happen at some point.
